Excellent, Spanish, but not Tapas!

There is a major misunderstanding, which needs correcting now that Spanish cuisine is so popular, about what "Tapas" are. A tapa (the word means "top" or"cover") is a very small bite size bit of food, traditionally presented with a drink on a tiny plate which "covered" the wine glass or copita... read more

Trangallan is amazing. I had a sense of excitement when I knew we were coming here as had good reviews. The food was excellent. We practically had the whole menu between all of us. A very nice meat board including a black pudding and paprika salami which was great. The tortilla was superb and the octopus was like something out... More

So refreshing to find a place like this. Limited menu which is what you want, with more than enough to create a selection of tapas dishes. Too many 'tapas' restaurants do all the commercial style Spanish food to satisfy the masses! This is probably the best tapas I've ever been to in the UK and not an over cooked paella... More

The practice thankfully continues in Spain today. But... More

This is a lovely place that we found by searching on the internet for restaurant in Stoke Newington. So we took a long walk from Bloomsbury up to Newington Green, where this restaurant is at one of the corner of the square. We had no reservation and were lucky to be shown to small, almost fragile table, next to an... More

I have visited Trangallan about 6 times over the past 2 years, and will continue to do so for many many years. This isn't a typical tapas restaurant. It is far better. The quality of the food is unparalleled, with the menu changing from season to season. Each dish is expertly created, drawing primarily from the rugged coastline and terrain... More

Have been here a few times now and each time it has been really great. The food is a cut above a regular tapas place, with exciting combinations that never fail, using wonderfully fresh and varied ingredients. I have found myself ordering things I wouldn't have thought I'd like, and really enjoying them. The atmosphere is lovely too. Cannot recommend... More

A highlight of my year so far (by far) has been a trip to this wonderful gem of a restaurant this valentines day. Set somewhat off the beaten track in Newington Green he ambience is perfect for a romantic date or intimate catch up. The staff were friendly, attentive and efficient to the needs to the customer but not intrusive.... More

The decor and fittings are eclectic, the service friendly and efficient. Between our family party we had a mix of items from the Sunday brunch and tapas menus. All dishes are shareable, with good quality ingredients, expertly cooked. We have a very good range and all are recommended. We drank Cava. The price of the wine list looked a little... More

Excellent service and great food. Wonderful choice of wines and they're not very expensive. Just very difficult to get a reservation.

Amazing restaurant in London, with really beautiful food from Spain. We had Tortilla, Fabada and Filloas rellenas...all amazing, with the same quality as made at home in a little town in Spain. First quality products, the Tetilla cheese of the filloas (galician pancakes) and the tortilla's potatoes perfectly show that the restaurant objective is the quality and proper tastes from... More
