Fresh Tapas

This restaurant is always busy and there's a reason why - the food is great - fresh, seasonal and delicious. It's a real local gem.

Had a lovely meal here with partner and my father. Service was excellent, very interesting and high quality cooking/food. Good wine list and lovely ambiance. Try the Octopus, really good. Not the cheapest of places but in my view worth the money.

This is really the neighborhood restaurant we have been looking for for a very long time - and we live on the border of Islington and Dalston where there are seemingly new openings every day. Enthusiastic service, delicious food and a relaxing atmosphere. Perfect for a date night, although not overwhelmingly full of couples - a real mix of happy... More

We'd not tried Trangallan because it's not obvious from the menu that there are veggie options. But friends recommended it, so we called ahead and were reassured that there are veggie dishes and that the chef can also adjust things. We've eaten there twice since, and loved the food and atmosphere. Really good food: not your cheap tapas. Tortilla is... More

Trangallan is a quirky tapas restaurant. Don't expect the tapas staples like patatas braves, the menu is varied and creative with a mix of large and small dishes as well as may, cheese and dessert plates. We chose four between two of us ; they were delicious and filling. The wine is Spanish and they encouraged is to try before... More

Trangallan is amazing. I had a sense of excitement when I knew we were coming here as had good reviews. The food was excellent. We practically had the whole menu between all of us. A very nice meat board including a black pudding and paprika salami which was great. The tortilla was superb and the octopus was like something out... More

So refreshing to find a place like this. Limited menu which is what you want, with more than enough to create a selection of tapas dishes. Too many 'tapas' restaurants do all the commercial style Spanish food to satisfy the masses! This is probably the best tapas I've ever been to in the UK and not an over cooked paella... More

There is a major misunderstanding, which needs correcting now that Spanish cuisine is so popular, about what "Tapas" are. A tapa (the word means "top" or"cover") is a very small bite size bit of food, traditionally presented with a drink on a tiny plate which "covered" the wine glass or copita. Geddit!! The practice thankfully continues in Spain today. But... More

This is a lovely place that we found by searching on the internet for restaurant in Stoke Newington. So we took a long walk from Bloomsbury up to Newington Green, where this restaurant is at one of the corner of the square. We had no reservation and were lucky to be shown to small, almost fragile table, next to an... More

I have visited Trangallan about 6 times over the past 2 years, and will continue to do so for many many years. This isn't a typical tapas restaurant. It is far better. The quality of the food is unparalleled, with the menu changing from season to season. Each dish is expertly created, drawing primarily from the rugged coastline and terrain... More
