Nice for dinner

Better choices for vegetarians than others in the area, and the upstairs dining room made eating there a pleasant experience, away from the crowds drinking downstairs. Friendly service. We ate there several times as was much nicer than other pubs in the area.

We were staying close-by with a group of American friends and called in late afternoon after the iconic open-top bus tour. The restaurant was quiet as all the local 'city' workers had departed back to their desks. The staff in the restaurant upstairs were delightful- helpful and accommodating of the allergy problems associated with Ceoliac disease. Food was super - sandwiches... More

We received a warm welcome and were attended to in a very nice way throughout the evening. Good selection of beers (we drank the Milk Stout as suggested by the staff). The pub offers a relaxing atmosphere and the food is actually quite good (try the Skinny Sharer or the fatty one). We ate in de pub itself on the... More

Got here later on a Friday evening and ordered a nice beer and got the steak pie. It was very dry. Maybe because it was later at night because I read all of the great reviews. Really neat old pub, I'll try it again.

After visiting Big Ben, we were looking for a place that served amazing fish n chips for a good price. We went onto TripAdvisor and found this place by popular reviews. It was sooooo good! It had a traditional pub environment and the staff was incredibly sweet. We got talking to some regulars as well, who gave us some insider... More

English pub style restaurant and bar. Loved the fish and chips, huge portion. Main bar is downstairs, additional dining room and bar upstairs. The stairs were a little bit of a challenge, and the dining room was crowded and warm, but the food was well worth it.

Had the Lunch special. Meal and a Drink for £9. Food good. Service was friendly. Very busy at lunch time, but didn't have to wait too long for our food. Obviously a popular place in the area, always full.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and looking for a quick bite in a relaxed atmosphere. We found both as well as great service at the Marquis of Granby. My husband and I shared the appetizer sampler and it was more than enough for both of us. The Mac & Cheese was wonderful. So good that we and our... More

The restaurant is a little out of the way, but that's why my wife and I want there. My meat pie was very good. There just wasn't much of it. Seemed a little pricey too. I think it is a better place to go for a pint than for dinner.

Friendly helpful knowledgable staff (my husband likes to try all the local beers from places we have been & the bar staff knew all about the beer) the food was good pub food, generous serving size & reasonable prices.

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
