Great tasting German sausages in a no-frills setting

Down to earth sausage joint with a limited selection of authentic German sausages and beer. In German tradition, this is more of a take-away/street food place; there are very limited seating opportunities inside, and only limited seating opportunities outside. Food was great, and prices are ok, at least for London.

This is a wurst-on-the-go sort of place. The staff are friendly and don't seem to mind if you practice your GCSE German on them. The menu is short but perfectly formed. The food of great quality and speedily delivered. Sit at the large windows and chow-down on a curry wurst and watch the Smithfield crowds go by. Recommend for a... More

The food is quite good, but portions are relatively small, prices are high. It has a stark, unwelcoming feel, very much a take away. And its just a mass produced chain - there is no art in cooking sausage in a bun. Value isn't there to make me want to go back. Try Beppe's. 2/3 of the price, twice the... More

The food is good, and the venue just fine when you're after a quick snack on your way somewhere. With a continental spice, this place is adding some German seasoning to a very London area. And - sure enough - if you order in German, the staff will serve you in German, so be prepared for more that just "Guten... More

I was so bizarre seeing the negative reviews about K&L on Trip Advisor.. I've been coming to this small gem at the heart of Farringdon for over a year now and I've never been disappointed! The menu can seem daunting at first but the servers guide you through it smoothly. For those complaining about the bread being charged separately -... More

Driving out of London on Sunday stopped for a spot of German Sausage. You an barely see the place at the moment for Crossrail excavations and barriers. Yes it is small and sometimes availability seems a bit on and off but if you want something that isn't a burger or cotton wool chicken it's a nice change. Krakauer, Hope I... More

So the food is not going to blow your mind. the end. But the overall package is actually pretty good and makes a change from going to Pret for lunch. So its a small place opposite the famous Smithfield Meat Market. Live cooking for 3 or 4 German Bratwursts, pork, pork and beef mix and smoked beef... all are pretty... More

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighborhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
