Something different

Had a great vegetarian platter which they made vegan for us. Lovely waitress explained what it all was! Great tasting honey wine. We were offered tasters of both the dry and sweet. Would definitely recommend.

Went to a Ethiopian restaurant a couple of months ago and this is very similar. Went for the platter, veggie and meat, for 2 and was a lot of food, really enjoy the concept of eating with your hands. Also enjoyed the honey wine but not for you if you don't like sweet/dessert wines. Good selection of tasty foods a... More

Our waiter volunteered no assistance so we went for the chef's selection and a bottle of the honey wine (which was lovely). We waited for our food to come for about an hour. When it came we were given no explanation of what we were eating. The injera bread looked like brown flannels rolled up and was clammy and cold.... More

This is a wonderful friendly welcoming restaurant. Eating with our hands after washing our hands in a thoughfully provided sink made the injerra with all it's mixed vegetarian curry like accompaniments taste delightful. The Kenyan tusker beer went so well with it.

The food was not good at all. The Sambusa to start with (which was plonked on my table with a scowl from the young waitress) tasted like a deep fried Ginsters pasty, filled with a vague "meat" which I was assured was chicken but heaven knows what it actually was. Then the main course... oh dear. As part of a... More

My (pregnant) wife had dinner at Adulis tonight with our 1 year old, and it was wonderful. We split the mixed platter for 2, called the mini kirchatt. It was plenty of food for all of us and very very good. And the staff were very sweet with our daughter. Have been here before and will go again.

Tired, hungry, in a hurry. Found this alternative to a pub. East African cuisine. Different but very fulfilling. Wonderfully accommodating hostess, we had a substantial meal without using knife and fork, just bread.

I went with three friends. We'd all been to Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurants before so we knew roughly what to expect - eating with the hands, using the injera bread as a scoop. We started by sharing some houmous and some lentil and tomato salad. Then for our main we chose the four-person platter, and we were very glad we did. Eight... More
