Great to read positive reviews of the Brownswood. A mob of six Aussies and an Irishman lived next door for six months in 1972 and it was our regular every bloody night (except Sundays for live music at the Arsenal Tavern). I went back on a visit in the 80s and it was a bit depressing despite all my happy... More

I have eaten here many times when I am in North London. The food is usually enjoyable and the service is good. I am very fond of this place and serves as a good pub with food. It can, however, become very busy and inevitably the service suffers.

I reviewed this pub a few weeks ago after having had a really disappointing meal here. We risked a burger here again the other night and it was loads better - which makes me very happy. Staff friendly (as they were before) and beer good.

This was my local for a year, and I truly loved it. Really missing it now. I think the atmosphere is great, from the back garden, lively downstairs and peaceful upstairs. We used to take a board game upstairs and settle in for hours. Great ale and cider selection. The food was generally good - the weak point being the... More

Keep really trying to like this pub. It looks good and the beer is usually ok. The food is really disappointing though. Have now tried the burger several times (dry and tasteless), the steak (really badly cooked) and the chicken supreme which was actually like the sort of thing you get on a plane; the veg was watery and the... I have been to this pub many times and really like the atmosphere and the decor. The staff are always really friendly and the food I have had during the week has been really nice. The Sunday roast was very disappointing. Everything on the plate was fine apart from the meat, which was the thin sliced kind and definitely didn't... More

Came in here after picking up friends from The Castle Climbing Centre. Excellent range of Ales and Ciders to choose from. The Pub has change hands in the past year and from what Ive heard its for the better. Seating upstairs and downstairs. Fine selection of Sunday roasts on offer for £10!

On the recommendation of some friends we decided to go to The Brownswood for Sunday lunch. It is just as well we reserved a table as it is obviously a popular place and we would not have got a table otherwise. The decor is really nice and the refurbishment has kept a lot of the original features in place, like... More
