Great English Pub

Stopped off here yesterday for a couple of pints of English ale. So different to Aussie pubs. all the quaint booths and doorways between lounge rooms with door heights of about 5 feet high and a sill to step over. First off tried the Timothy's Landlord beer 2 pints were about 10 pounds... read more

We had to wait for 15 minutes to get our table despite having booked and only received very uninterested apologies by the staff. It then took over 30 minutes to take our food order and we had to go and ask the bartender three times to send someone at our table. After the meal we got offered the dessert menu... More

There were 10 of us having a late Sunday afternoon lunch. We made reservations but still had a small table, several people had Bangers and Mash, I had pork belly and the others had fish and chips. All the food was excellent and the drinks were made to order.

My friends and I popped in here for a pint after a stroll around Holland Park and we weren't disappointed. Tell a lie: actually, I was quite appalled by the first pint served to me, as it was a good centimetre short of being full. A request to have it topped remedied the problem, but a pint should never be... More

Was a regular at this pub when I lived in London but was incredibly unimpressed when I visited whilst on holidays the other night. Food was an hour late, bread burnt on a steak sandwich (was too hungry to send it back) and then we were made to pay more for meal than we had ordered even though it was... More

While in London we decided to do the traditional English Sunday roast. This pub was a bit of a hike uphill from Kensington High St but soooo worth it! The roast beef was delightful. My husband had the roast pork and raved about it. The pimms on tap on a London summer's day was the icing on the cake!

We came in on a Friday night, fairly early around 7pm, to enjoy a pub dinner while visiting London for the first time. We choose this place due to the proximity of our hotel, being on multiple lists for a top pub in London and overall pretty good reviews. We were quite turned off at first, but the night turned... I dare you to find a more "real" London pub this close to the glare of the city lights. Just a couple of minutes walk off Hyde park in the Kensington palace end, this pub will blow anglophiliacs off their barstool. Crooked and bent, naturally tinted by cigarettes beer and greasy Londoners over countless years, this pub is a gem.... More

popped in here for a tonic water ice and lemon- sliced lemon placed in glass by bare hand- this is not hygienic and will give this pub a miss in future. Had a refurb a while back , menu jazzed up, train your bar staff.

Interesting interior, quality real ales, and a garden in the rear. Ended up returning a few times, including for a Sunday meal, which I highly recommend. Tip: reserve, esp. for Sunday meal.
