Having heard so many pretentious types suggest that this chain was one of the best places to eat if you were on a budget or in a hurry I thought that I would check it out. Having been seated for about 20 minutes I believe that the idea of fast food was a little ironic. Another 10 minutes later and... More

I liked this place. It's a restaurant chain and it may lack that nearness that a local restaurant brings. Anyway, it has good food, you won't leave hungry and the price is very affordable for that kind of menu in London.

My wife and I stayed in London at the Walforf Hotel for the weekend of our 1st anniversary and we called at Garfunkels for a meal on the Sunday evening. We were served by Norbert, a personable guy from Hungary, who provided very good service. We ordered garlic bread as a starter, a bottle of Chardonnay, Steak Frites and my... More

we were a group of 18, hadn't booked, but they could accommodate us (we wanted to eat at four o' clock) anyway. Food was good. It was served with good speed. The bunch of teenagers loved the burgers, the pizza and the scampi and chips. The ladies that served us were efficient and very friendly. Manager was very frienly, came to... More

We went for a slightly late lunch under the misapprehension that a certain deal was available. The waiter, when we asked about the deal we saw online, informed us that this restaurant wasn't one that offered it but he made an exception :) On top of that he was incredibly helpful, explained the bill to us, recommended options and made... Average at best. Ordered a 'pink lemonade' which was poor, pretty sure it was just grenadine and warm water. Vile! I then had fish and chips which consisted of shrivelled up fish and cold mushy peas. My friend also ordered a fish pie which she asked for with mushy peas and was told that was fine, but then was given... More

Ok place to eat dinner. A little bit noisy place. The food is ok but not more than ok. Got the food and drink in short time. Just one beef steak and only pommesfrites on meny. Carbonara very good. Pizza ok.

For my main course, I chose Steak & Ale pie. Boring, I know, but I thought it was a safe bet! It was dire - the vegetables were cold, flaccid and look days old. The French fries were, at best, tepid. The pie itself was OK although it too could have benefited from being hotter.

Had breakfast in Garfunkles on Praed st. Dull and expensive when you add every thing up. They had a breakfast offer of 2 eggs, beans and bacon without toast bread...I had to buy this, for an extra for 1.5£ Honestly!! The tea was weak and nasty, so no need for unlimited refills. The day before we went to at "greasy... More

Went with my husband and both had steak. The steak had a line of gristle running all the way through, my husband complained and they took it back but then he had to wait galf an hour for another one, by that time his hunger had abaited. Slow service too.
