Barnes' favourite watering hole.Overlooking the famous Barnes village pond, The Sun Inn is a gem of pub serving fresh, tasty pub food, in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. We also pour a blimmin' great pint of locally brewed real ale and equally tasty Belgian beer. And being near to the banks of Old Father Thames, we're perfectly located for a spot of Pimm's o'clock during the boat race in April.

Ate here on the first evening of our week's stay in Barnes. Good pub fare and great atmosphere. Fish and chips were first rate.

Had been in on Thursday for first time. Impressed by the selection of beers and ciders. Returned on Friday evening for eats. Staff were very welcoming and there was a bit of banter at the bar. Not always the case in London. We sat in the beer garden. Nice atmosphere as it was BBQ night although we were too late... More

Sadly, for such a lovely location, the recent refurbishment has apparently been accompanied by some changes that are far from an improvement. For one thing, the portion sizes relative to prices are laughable. What was offered as a burger (for £14 no less!) was probably about 3 oz of beef. And the child's burger (around £6 I think) was literally... More

After hearing good review we booked a table for 5 expecting a nice meal. It was very busy but we expected that on a Saturday night in London. There was a band playing which weren't very good and so loud it was difficult to hold a conversation during the meal. First pint served was full of sediment and tasted 'off'... More

I have been to The Sun Inn a couple of times for Sunday lunch and remember it was superb. Returned again this Sunday and had a tasty Sunday Roast (in our Party this included Beef, Roast Chicken and Vegetarian). All in all a good value tasty Sunday dinner with no complaints. It's busy but this is great drinking pub in... More

Have been a regular of The Sun for 15 years, and watched with dismay as food standard has continuously declined. Had Sunday lunch yesterday. It was awful. Slow service (45 minutes between ordering and food arriving); side dishes forgotten; a strater arrived after main courses; the childrens food was cold; the Yorkshire was a an extruded lump of over-cooked cold... Ive frequented this pub since 1997 when we moved to Barnes. The food used to be great but has gone down dreadfully over the years. The fried chicken last Sunday was miserably small and over cooked, almost charred. Tonights Burger has to be the smallest burger patty Ive ever been served. 18 years later I have to say Im not... Great food, with some excellent deals (2 courses for £10). Very busy at weekends so be sure to book. Recently renovated to a high standard with welcoming staff offering a good service.
