Description: Barnes' favourite watering hole.Overlooking the famous Barnes village pond, The Sun Inn is a gem of pub serving fresh, tasty pub food, in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. And being near to the banks of Old Father Thames, we're perfectly located for a spot of Pimm's o'clock during the boat race in April.

This pub has prime position in one of the most affluent suburbs of London with an enviable position near the pond near £2m homes but the quality of service and food couldn't be further removed from the standards one could expect from such a pub. I visited the pub recently and ordered a burger - when it arrived it was... More

Enjoyed a lovely sunny Sunday lunch here last weekend! The roast chicken was delicious, quite possibly the best roast potatoes I've tasted and the fish and chips was a generous size and the cider & tarragon batter was outstanding! Not at all soggy and remained crispy from start to finish. I would highly recommend this place!

It is interesting reading the other reviews on here, because if I had one criticism of The Sun Inn is that the bar is very often understaffed. There was one occasion on a Friday night when there was literally nobody at the bar for a couple of minutes. However, the place does have character and is good to go to... More

"What's the table number" - sorry I don't know, I don't work here, it's on the left of the door. "I need the number" - no sale !!!!!! If you hate tending bar that much why work in a pub!

Shocking. Did the 2 courses for £10 starter was ok. Main course sausage and mash sausages were extremely bad quality, mash had been microwaved to death and was watery. Gravy was good though. My girlfriend had mac and cheese with a garlic focaccia brick, they had heated the bread in a microwave and it had become so solid it could... More

A famous local Landmark in a glorious spot overlooking the Pond. On a sunny day it's great to enjoy a pint outside although space is limited. There us also some very limited parking. However the quality of the place has gone downhill in a big way. Today (17/09/2013) we had the Fixed Price Lunch Menu. Which is a great idea... More

On the surface, The Sun Inn in Barnes evidently has a lot going for it. A lovely old building situated in an idyllic location by the pond in Barnes, with a comfortable thought out interior. I have been here twice in the last 3 months, for Sunday lunch and for drinks. The lunch wasn't particularly successful; the roast was lacking... More

Went here with my Father-in-Law for a trip down memory lane, he used to go when he lived nearby just after the War. We had nice food, good well kept beer and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. It's a nice spot opposite the pond that Father-in-Law used to play in 80 odd years ago!

A great, classic, dog-friendly pub in leafy Barnes I'm local and I love it here, though it does some things better than others. Both burgers on the menus are stunning, and the rest of the food is generally good, with a decent amount of imagination (certainly the best pub food in Barnes). They are dreadfully understaffed sometimes though, and could... More
