Barnes' favourite watering hole.Overlooking the famous Barnes village pond, The Sun Inn is a gem of pub serving fresh, tasty pub food, in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. We also pour a blimmin' great pint of locally brewed real ale and equally tasty Belgian beer. And being near to the banks of Old Father Thames, we're perfectly located for a spot of Pimm's o'clock during the boat race in April.

Noisy!

Nice looking pub both inside and out. We had booked a table for 5 and found ourselves in the front bar in the corner. Unfortunately, this was below a sound speaker and to be honest we couldn't hear ourselves speak. I just hate shouting at my fellow diners all night , don't you? The food when it... read more

This pub was recommended by two friends, nice location and friendly staff. Very busy and popular so book ahead. What let it down was a foul smell - it was like we were eating our lunch in the toilet. We provided feedback to staff who apologised and explained its been like this for a few weeks - when we spoke... More

We used to love going for a sunday walk along the river and stopping for lunch at the Sun Inn. However having also made this our a new years day tradition I am sad to say that after two terrible lunches both this new years day and last it will not be a tradition we will be carrying on. Despite... More

Been here a few times, most recently for a birthday party. Pub is pleasant enough in a nice spot just by Barnes duck pond. OK for a drink or two. However, food is, at best, average. 3 of our party had steak, all of which were sent back as they were underdone / cold. Replacements weren't much better but we... More

My review is about a pub. A pub that is well located in the middle of a rather nice place that is Barnes. It is a very agreeable place to have a pint of beer for sure - comfortable, pleasant environment and clientele. Let's not get too hung up on whether the barmaids have a British Kitemark for pulling ale... More

There is nothing more quintessentially English than a village green with a pub and a duck pond. The Sun Inn, set on the fringe of the pond, has offered shelter and sustenance to residents and visitors alike since the mid 18th century. In line with its picturesque location, it’s a pretty pub, cosy inside and with umbrella shaded tables at... More

Visited for Sunday lunch. Meat was overcooked, sides undercooked, advertised crackling was clearly a packet pork scratching, service fairly dreadful. When my lunch arrived the portion was tiny, one roast potato, one slice of meat, one carrot piece and a huge pile of kale , I presume in compensation. Our undercooked sides also arrived at this time. I complained about... More

Went there on Sunday and had a fantastic time. The service was welcoming and friendly, the beer selection is great with some craft beers available but your most comfortable choices available alongside them. The roasts were great, crispy potatoes, great medium succulent beef. My partner did say her Pork was very good as well. As for the dessert the Profiteroles... More

The Sun Inn participated in hosting our annual day-long Charity Bridge Drive. Managers Jardine and Nuno were helpful, communicative and highly competent, and offered us a good value lunch menu. The friendly and professional staff helped to to arrange the layout of tables for our registration and to make sure that lunch was served to up to seven tables of... More
