Judging by how busy this place was on the evening we went, it is extremely popular. We just managed to cram ourselves in and encircle a table - standing only except in the window. If you want somewhere quiet, where you can get a seat and hear yourself think, José isn't the place for you. The place was heaving with... More

Stopped by here on the way to the White Cube Gallery. Fantastic mid-day snacks and wine. Perfect corner location.

Really enjoyed ourselves here. It was packed to the rafters and we had to stand up at the bar along the window to start with. All the food was very good, well priced and good portion sized, and the wines were also good, though a bit pricey. If you don't mind being in close proximity to other patrons then give... More

I am unsure whether the tapas at Jose was traditional or contemporary as I am not an aficionado but it was certainly more interesting than any tapas that I have tried before. The combinations where wonderful. The place is clearly passionate about the providence and quality of their ingredients. The restaurant is right on Bermondsey Street near The Woolpack, The... More

Went for a drink on the 19th December. Immediate friendly welcome on opening the door. Very good wine selection. Perfect location for a single drink and a plate of tapas (potato bravas very good indeed). Overall menu looked good too. It is just so crowded that you really cannot cope for long. But that might just be our age!

This place is wonderful. The tapas are nice and simple, not too pricey and the cheese selection is frickin ace! This restaurant is about 300 square feet so it's pretty teeny and there aren't really many chairs so you have to stand. Also, they have those teeny little water glasses which are WELL annoying. 3 sips and you need a... More

Always busy so be prepared. Tapas are just amazing. You feel as though you are in Spain. Been about now for a few years but still really good. Always check the blackboards.

Great vibe on a Saturday night! The food is imaginative and delicious! However it is VERY packed, and not enough stools to table ratio! be prepared to be jostled, change of tables - but staff is great, and the food is top notch!

We took tapas here on a Saturday evening in December, arriving at 6.15, knowing that we would have to 'queue' for a table. The place is small. Really small. If it was a restaurant with tables, it would sit no more than 20. So it's about standing up, and if you are lucky, you can perch by a wall or... More

Jose's tapas are yummy, very good, and the atmosphere is lively. But in busy times (practically always) you'll probably need to eat/drink standing, with very little space between you and other clients.
