Consistently fantastic

The formula remains beautifully simply: Awesome quality food, cooked by talented chefs, served by a team who genuinely welcome and care. Travel from near or far- it NEVER disappoints.

We didn't have to wait very long to find a perch and the service was speedy. Had thought it was a good idea to go for tapas on a warm evening but it was like a sauna inside and made eating a bit uncomfortable so maybe go on a less warm evening. Food was delicious.

We found it by chance, looking for a place to have lunch along our route. The place was full during lunch time, but service was remarkably efficient and attentive. Tapas are great - prawns, peppers, goat cheese all were delicious, accompanied by wine.

Two of us late one afternoon in May managed to bag a seat. The place is usually heaving and we're way past wanting to impersonate hot sardines as a means of fun. However, on this day it was busy but no one was standing so we thought we'd give it a go. We sat at the back and felt stifled... More

We arrived with our newborn son and had to wait a short while for a table. However, the staff were very accommodating, and despite the busy Saturday late afternoon service and narrow setting, they soon found us a table - which we greatly appreciated. The menu is small and reasonably priced based on the quality. We ordered the croquettes, patatas... More

Not feeling welcome. We left and went on the other side where the service was great . Called Casse Croute. Tapas bars in Spain are places with conviviality. If you think you are not welcome, there is no point in going. Lady there was particularly agitated .

Nice people, nice place, nice food. Nothing special the tastes we had but with only 3 tapas dishes I cannot make a complete judgement, the staff was very helpful the wines were well chosen and the ambience very nice so definitely I recommend it!

This place is good - I mean seriously good. The menu is small but the dishes are divine. Perfectly presented and very tasty. Good atmosphere. A place to return soon. We didn't want to leave!

I was at José's for the first time yesterday. The stag were super friendly. We got there around 6:30pm and got a place to sit and eat. But by 7:30pm place was packet and people were standing and drinking eating. Very Spanish. The food is amazing, really good tapas. I know is quite pricey. But there is quality and it... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
