I have been going to Jose since it first opened in what used to be an old sandwich cafe. It continues to go from strength to strength and I know a lot of people who have discovered the culinary delights of Bermondsey St because of this place. My favourite dish is the pluma iberica which is melt in the mouth... More

We nearly had everything on the menu with three people. All great flavours and variety. Mussels, squid and pluma iberico were our favourites. Staff was knowledgeable, upbeat and friendly despite the busy atmosphere. Would go again for a weekend lunch/snack.

We went through 5 courses and each one had great food. You share tapas at bar tables with a beer. It is cosy but once you adjust to the atmosphere, place your orders and wonderful flavors with emerge from the tiny kitchen. Meats, shrimp, calamari, and chorizo Iberico were savored throughout the evening.

Great staff, and atmosphere. The food is great. Don't be put off by the queues you will get a space within 15 mins..it's worth the wait.

Let's stick to the basics: the food is brilliant, if (I know, I know it's tapas!) a little too salty. The staples are top notch (pan con tomate, tortilla, croquetas to name a few) and the more inspired are equally as well executed and mouthwatering upon eating (I'm salivating just thinking about goats cheese and honey). Service was timely and... More

Judging by the fact you couldn't move upon entering this place, I know it was going to be nice and I wasn't disappointed! Traditional as you could want in the middle of London, a small piece of Spanish life just how it should be! The staff were attentive and good to chat to!

Judging by how busy this place was on the evening we went, it is extremely popular. We just managed to cram ourselves in and encircle a table - standing only except in the window. If you want somewhere quiet, where you can get a seat and hear yourself think, José isn't the place for you. The place was heaving with... More

Stopped by here on the way to the White Cube Gallery. Fantastic mid-day snacks and wine. Perfect corner location.

Really enjoyed ourselves here. It was packed to the rafters and we had to stand up at the bar along the window to start with. All the food was very good, well priced and good portion sized, and the wines were also good, though a bit pricey. If you don't mind being in close proximity to other patrons then give... More
