God Bless Jose

First visit to this charming place. We had a variety of tapas - all delicious. The chocolate pot was the best pud of this type I've ever had. Staff were great - and as many reviewers have said - they know their menu and give great advice. It's busy in the evening but there's a nice buzz. Great for people... More

It's been a while since I last visited and the previous head chef is now firmly installed in the newest of the Pizarro restaurants (Broadgate). So how is the new head chef at the Jose tapas bar doing? Based on yesterday's experience he's doing fab. We worked our way through stuffed pequillo peppers, prawn croquettas, mixed tomato salad, clams al... More

Brilliant atmosphere, brilliant staff, brilliant food and incredible wine. I would come here every night if I could. If you like beautifully prepared tapa, beautifully selected and served wine and friendly, knowledgeable staff then this is a must visit! And best of all....it is very fairly priced as well. The location is a little walk from London Bridge station but... More

I stumbled upon Jose when walking down the well known Bermondsey Street, and it was certainly a favourite spot to frequent when I moved to the area a couple of years ago. The tapas are fresh and delicious and typical of Spain (not the pintxos), and they change often depending on the availability of ingredients. The Spanish wines on offer... More

The best restaurant in London for fresh authentic tapas. Myself and my girlfriend have visited Jose numerous times and have never had a single dish that disappointed. The wine list is also very good and it is refreshing to be able to speak to staff who know about the food and drink they serve and you can tell how passionate... More

GO! It's a standing room only and there are always a ton of people there. Wine is great and we ordered almost everything off the menu and everything was to die for. I go there everytime I am in that part of London

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
