Exceptional in every aspect....

In a busy weekday evening, the accomplished cooking and attentive service of this, the best restaurant in Chelsea, did not wilt. Joe Mercer Nairne performed wonders in the kitchen whilst David O'Connor presided over the front of house with a gentle charm and effortless ease. An embarrassment of choice in all three courses faces the most discerning diner. Dishes show... More

The gazpacho soup was as good as it gets. The stuffed squid was, for our taste, over-salted. This might be because the sundried tomatoes were themselves salty as were the nuts with the course. This over-salting, for our taste, was repeated with the crepe parmentier accompanying a very good roast guinea fowl course. The french beans were perfectly al dente.... More

From moment we walked in staff very polite and attentive, food was delicious , we had Sunday set menu plenty of selection, not hurried at all. My sisters and I were delighted in our choice of restaurant.

We ate here with my son and his fiancée who live nearby. Arriving at 7 we had full choice of tables, being the first diners to arrive but by 8 p.m. it was packed and by 9 heaving, with tables upstairs full too. It was a very hot evening and some tables were outside but that would have been too... More

We went to Medlar as it is cheaper and had the 3 course menu. What a disappointing meal! We were expecting three amazing courses but the food was very average. I had the crab raviolo for starter which was tasty but nothing special. It was too rich and creamy and I had an upset stomach for a few days afterwards...... More

This must be one of if not the best modern British continental cuisine in London, attentive service, excellent food, nice room, a bit noisy (they must out in some noise insulating ceilings), the problem is usually reservations (not the friendliest and always full, really....). They are a small step from being just fantastic.

Everything about Medlar is designed to make you feel good. The waitstaff are welcoming but discreet, so attentive and can't do enough for you. The dining room has a relaxed and convivial atmosphere with elegant and unfussy decor. And the food! Absolutely excellent. Wonderful flavour combinations, and a real lightness of touch. We left with a great sense of wellbeing.... More

Simply wonderful! That's the only way I can describe Medlar. The food sounds quite "posh" written down but is actually presented wonderfully and tastes fantastic. In particular the crisp brain or duck heart is something to try. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the whole atmosphere of the place is very relaxed - at no point did I... More

Absolutely fabulous night out.... A friend recommended this restaurant to me and I am so thrilled that she did because we had a marvellous time at the Medlar. Our waiter was super attentative and constantly topping up our glasses and really paying attention to us (thank you for that). The food was really good I had the crab ravioli (compliments... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.
