Unfortunately Tom the cheery restaurant manager seems to have left and you are now greeted by a couple of scowling eastern Europeans. This used to be one of my favourite local restaurants but they have very recently changed things, a starter of mussels at £8 contained onlly about 8 mussels two of which hadn't opened so would have been dangerous to... I discovered the Henry Root walking by. Welcomed by Tom the cheery restaurant manager, we were sat on a lovely table. The menu at the Henry Root is amazing, such a great variety to chose from, I was really impressed. I had the Vietnamese prawn salad and the duck breast fillet. Both refreshing and flavorous. On top of that, the... More

Am amazed by the rave reviews. The night I went there (Monday) must have been cook's night off as there was no evidence anyone knew how to cook. Gazpacho, an easy thing to do well but something that requires some work, was a travesty of carelessly and flavourlessly blended veg without any of the usual additions while my "Vietnamese" prawn... We had a fantastic night here, great service and top notch food !! We were told they had a top new Chef so we decided to go there, we sure were not let down. The duck breast was the best ever and my wife said the lamb rump just melted in her mouth ! Our daughter and her partner who... More

Visited in December with my partner for Sunday lunch. The best roast dinner we have both ever had. Attentive staff and lovely decor. Need I say more.....

Dinner for four. Really nice atmosphere, friendly and relaxed. Good food. Reasonable prices for Chelsea. I had not been before but will certainly return.

Went here for a casual Sunday lunch with friends and wasn't disappointed. Staff very friendly and great food with an open kitchen which I always love. Feels a little like being in your own house (a very nice one at that).

Frankly I'm shocked the reviews on here aren't higher, but perhaps my evening was a little out of the norm. I had a truly wonderful 5 course meal as part of a Sipsmith "botanical feast", and the Henry Root team worked their socks off to deliver us a superb dining experience. Maybe other times when it is not a set... More

My girlfiend took me here as a dinner treat and I have to say that this place lived up to my expectations, after what I had read prior. Great atmosphere and nice staff, although they could have smiled a bit more. We liked the starters but the main, fish, was really exceptional, tender and tasty, cooked perfectly. Prices in line... Dear Henry Root, I should have known from the empty tables and notable lack of restaurant din that this dining experience wasn’t going to be the most pleasurable. The restaurant’s front of house (if you could call him that), wasn’t all warm smiles and exaggerated gestures, which I expect but more fed up that we’d bothered him. And I hate... More
