Absolutely, charmingly unique, the Bellaria Restaurant and Wine Bar in Londons upmarket Fitzrovia is a must for those tiring of the same old dining experience. From street level, Bellaria is quite simple a pleasant, attractive Italian restaurant with an inviting atmosphere, bright and simple dcor and the best seats of the house undoubtedly by the wide windows where one can watch the world go by. However, a few steps below and guests are transported to a whole other world. Bellarias basement level truly is straight out of an ancient fairytale, its bare stone walls with their arches, nooks and crannies complemented by chandeliers and trickster mirrors, low lighting casting a moody glow. Its the ideal setting for romance and a real surprise to everyone who discovers it. Upmarket and sophisticated, the menu of the Bellaria Restaurant is very much in keeping with its very special ambience, making good use of Italys most coveted produce in well-presented and elegantly creative dishes ranging from pastas and risottos to steaks and fish. Though a number of excellent wines are available, we cant help but be tempted by Bellarias vast and exciting cocktail list.

Enjoyable family meal

Six of us enjoyed family 3 course meal. The pescatarian in our party ordered the sea bream without realising the dish also contained meat. The waiter apologised immediately and replaced to dish without any argument even tough it was our mistake. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We... read more

Found Bellaria by chance on Friday evening while looking for somewhere to eat north of Oxford Circus. Friendly staff, great food and good atmosphere. We hadn't booked but no trouble getting a table in the window. Had delicious Burrata cheese and peppers to start and then delicious main courses - pappardelle with venison ragout for me and pulled pork &... More

Went on a quiet Monday night and few people where there. The service was friendly and attentive but the food was really not interesting. The squid ink risotto was really tasteless. I would not hurry back.

After a terrible experience in an "italian restaurant" very close to Bellaria, we thought to give italian food another chance so I went for dinner with my boyfriend and a friend. The service was great, we really felt looked after and the food was excellent! Italian flavours, all home made. We had some complimentary starters and also we asked for... More

This is a place with a very cosy and intimate feel. The food was good but for the prices I felt it could have been a little better. Portion sizes were reasonable and service was good. I had a nice time.

Being given a table in the doorway perhaps set things off on the wrong foot. Granted, someone has to sit there, but a little more thought on layout may address that. As it was, we periodically had large groups of walk-ins looming over our table and letting a cold breeze in. Would've been nice for staff to recognise this and... More

As a large group dining, the typical Italian relaxed style of service was trying for those in the group that were very thirsty! Great wine selections and all food arriving exactly as ordered without errors for 3 courses for a large group is impressive.

I used to live here and have never been, which is a shame. It was chosen for a business evening meal and it was lovely. I was early before my table and the staff kindly sat me down and asked me if I wanted a drink. The service is relaxed, as I think they try not to intrude, so you'll... More

Note: charming downstairs setting closed Monday and Tuesday but food still good and nice service. Easy walk to Charlotte street for a drink afterwards. May be some better Italian in the area but still would give it 4 stars.
