Lovely tea at Charing Cross Hotel

The venue was very elegant and we had a lovely view over the Strand. There was a great range of teas and we had many pots! The sandwiches were tasty - not as delicate as some we have had at other London hotels, but still delicious. My favourite was the scones with strawberry jam and cream, but we... read more

We had dinner here on a quiet weekday evening. Despite the hotel having been (I'm told) completely renovated, the restaurant was rather characterless and lacked ambiance. The staff were very polite and helpful but service was rather slow- two hours for two courses. The food was nicely presented and the vegetables were perfectly cooked, but my sea bass fillet was... This is my second visit to the Terrace Bar, this time on my own after a business meeting, last time in November with my husband. I was so happy to see that the same waitress, Nathalie, was on duty. For me this young woman is among the best I have encountered and I travel extensively across the world. She is... More

We received a warm welcome from Jesus who escorted us to the terrace. They reserved us a table with an amazing view over Trafalgar Square, Amit was very polite and knowledgeable, with a strong attention to.the details. We spent an amazing afternoon between cakes and tea like Alice in Wonderland. Thanks also to the lovely Sofia and Hayley!

We called into the Amba hotel for a drink after our journey by train. The staff that showed us to where the area was for coffee were extremely helpful. The young lady Natalia who served us was so lovely, she chatted to us and made sure we were happy. She was telling us about her auntie who only liked Yorkshire... More

We had afternoon tea in the terrace restaurant, the staff were friendly and helpful, we took our children 9&7 and we all felt welcome and enjoyed the atmosphere. Sandwiches were on the large side but delicious. Scones were very nice the cakes were all good. We were all full and satisfied when done.

Ideal location with great views. The service was really good nothing to much trouble. My husband had a sirloin steak which he enjoyed and at £19.95 was excellent value, I had the chicken breast at £15.50 again excellent value, cheaper than many restaurants in the area, and in my opinion much nicer.

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
