It was just okay

Last minute stop off for lunch- really easy to make reservation on the phone. Menu covers off all the classics and the food did not disappoint- highly recommend the burger but also the chicken salad with chargrilled chicken was delicious. Really good to see they stock Chapel Down fizz as well.

Four of us came here for a birthday dinner. A freshly baked loaf of bread was placed on our table and we devoured it right away, which probably filled us up a bit too much. We ordered a selection of starters which we all enjoyed. For main I had the scallops baked in shells with samphire, which were delicious, the... More

I can't comment on the food here as we ran out of patience waiting for someone to take our order. In the 20 minutes or so we sat in a 1/3 full restaurant while servers cleared tables around us but took no notice of our closed menus and lack of food we saw drinks returned by another table, the couple... I have spent many happy birthdays at Tom's Kitchen in Chelsea so I thought this year I'd try Somerset House. I couldn't book on line as the party size was 7 but was helpfully contacted by email & reassured that a gluten free menu was available for one of my party. On the day, we were seated and then largely... More

i read the reviews for this restaurant before going there and some were good and others not so good. I went there last night and the staff were very helpful and attentive. The food was delicious I had the marinated salmon to start and followed this with the scallops in puff pastry and a suggested Parmesan salad. My husband had... More

Somerset House is a very impressive building on its own. But to add to this you have a couple of good restaurants. The most outstanding one for me has to be Toms Kitchen. The food was faultless. The treacle salmon was the most impressive dish. We then had the lamb shoulder agin very impressive. The queen of puddings to finish... More

My wife and I popped into Toms Kitchen for a late bite to eat on a Saturday. We shared the bread and humous to start and both had the cheeseburger for mains. The food was delicious and the setting is very nice indeed but it was let down by the very poor service. - Water we asked for did not... More

...As this place is a shambles!! We had a mid week meal for 2 people at this Somerset House establishment. This is prime real estate and expected that location, coupled with Tom's expertise, would be a winning formula. How wrong we were. The staff are all very junior, many spotty/untidy and just out of school, therefore lack the finesse of... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
