Great team dinner, great service and great food

We were a bit group (16 people) so good service was impressive. We all had a range of mains and they all arrive on time and tasted amazing. Recommend to others for team dinner.

A really good meal with first class service from pleasant smiley staff. The elegant setting of Somerset House is an imaginative even unexpected place to find such a good restaurant. Being in the south wing river views are an added bonus. So many nice things on the menu, will have to go again.

We had been here before for Lunch with the children. This time there was 6 adults late morning and every part of the food was perfect for all 6 of us. The poached eggs were the best I've ever seen they were cooked perfect. Great brunch/ lunch a big pat on the back to the kitchen Dave

After being let down by our pre booked restaurant, we googled who had a table immediately. This came up,so in we went with no prior knowledge or expectations. What a find! Shepherds pie raised to another level, sides plentiful and delicious. My sons Monkfish tail was divine too. Husband and other son went for chateaubriand which they said was very... More

In spite of some of the other reviews we had a very delicious meal and excellent service. Yes, it is pricey but the quality and very large portions helped to balance that out. We had been to the Herge/Tintin exhibition earlier and reserved a table for after. We were immediately taken to our table and welcomed by the waitress with... More

Went for lunch following the Tintin exhibition. Arrived early, but were still seated without fuss at our table: which was between another table and a step and felt crammed in. The orange juice was genuine and tasted great; the macaroni cheese might have been better without the truffle oil and with a more adventurous admixture of cheese. I was delighted... More

Service was disappointing, and front of house particularly poor. The monkfish looked amazing that my friend ordered, and the sides were okay (chips a bit over-cooked). But I can not give a higher rating for somewhere that charges £16 for a burger, and when we asked to give them our preferred level of cooking (i.e. medium, rare etc) we were... More

Came here for lunch on a Sunday, prior to going into an exhibition. Unusual layout in that the restaurant is a series of long rooms, on the river side of Somerset House. We had fish and chips and mushroom pappardelle. Both very well cooked and served in large portions. Very friendly service. One quibble - a very limited choice of... More

£16 for a burger that Toms Kitchen will only serve you well done. £21 for a distinctly average rump steak served only with watercress. Enough said.

Lunch after interesting Tintin/Herge exhibition at Somerset House. Wonderful Chicken Liver Parfait (a favourite) and Crab Cakes for starter followed by a really good Shepherds Pie and Monkfish Tail mains, then a massive Baked Alaska. Ah, but all very good necessitating a taxi afterwards as both overeaten! If it were full of people the rooms might be too noisy as... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
