Loved the food but not the restaurant!

I booked a table for two for 8pm on Saturday 1 August to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday as he loves steak and this restaurant was recommended by a friend. We drove down and parked easily on a single yellow line two minutes away. Got there at 8.05pm and we were seated immediately. I didn't like... read more

Visited here recently, we were a group of 10 celebrating a special birthday. We were seated in a large both facing St Paul's (think we probably had the best table there!) The food was amazing but I have to say that the staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble and the whole evening felt very special. Will definitely be... More

My husband and I did a 2-week trip in the UK, this was one of our favorite places out of all the restaurants we went ... and we went to MANY on our travels. Definitely our favorite in London. The food was fantastic, my husband was thrilled to find they had all of the Pappy VanWinkle's to taste, we can't... More

We had an early dinner here, as the place was booked for the rest of the evening. From the moment upon entering, we felt as we were part of a well organized commercial process. The hostess checked our name and immediately warned the waiting staff upstairs that we were on our way. Once in the restaurant, we were quickly seated... More

Over attentive. Wouldn't leave us alone clearing things away. Pestering. Trying to take friend's glass twice when she still wanted it. Brought bill before we'd requested it. Not busy so not as if they needed table. We were by bar trying to have a relaxed drink and chat but were constantly bothered by waitress. Couldn't believe charged 12.5% service charge... More

Booked a table for a romantic meal with my wife. We deliberately arrived about half an hour early so that we could sit at the bar and enjoy a cocktail before eating. When we arrived the waitress seemed a bit put out and we were told that we must sit at our table now or we would lose it. I... More

Sad that Jamie couldn't resist the iniquitous hidden service charge scam. If I choose to leave a tip to reward good service, I'll do so, but not on top of this. I'm sure that the meat is of the quality it claims to be but my ribs were tasteless and not especially hot. The sides (chips and beans) were OK... More

Yes its noisy, no its not cheap, service 5* Starters great. Main course, 8oz sirloin steak, very generous, cooked to perfection really tasty. Creamed spinach very moreish. Bit disappointed with chips but ok. We decided that the steak would have been more than enough with creamed spinach or salad. we couldn't fit a desert in. The lovely welcome on arrival.... More

I frequent Barbecoa for business lunches since it has a great choice on the menu but mainly because the food is consistently excellent in quality and taste. This ranges from the fish dishes to the main event that is the meat options (it is a steak restaurant) - I've tried both meat & fish options and I cannot find fault... More

Visited this Restaurant on Saturday 25th July as a gift from the kids for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We booked the table approx 5 weeks before going and requested a table by the window overlooking St Pauls , we were a little disappointed when this request was not accomodated given how far in advance we had booked , however the... Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
