Friendly local with fab burgers

Love going here on Monday when the Burger Bear is in residence. The staff here always look they are enjoying themselves, and are very welcoming and friendly. Family friendly. Yummy sunday roast. We had a fantastic party here to celebrate my 50th birthday. The room was excellent, the food was great, the beer varied and delicious and the staff friendly and helpful.

Not having ventured to The Old Nun's Head for a while, Poppy and Banjo popped in for a taster. Immediately commenting to the manager that the return to it's decorative 1930's roots was pleasing. A reasonable mix of beers on taps and the trend for Yankee style grub was to be found, but not exactly their want for norishment, so... More

I had chosen this place as because of its Sunday Roast reputation and nearby playground that was perfect for my 5 year old son. Place was packed and we had been given the last table available (thank you). I have made the order at the bar but was confused as we couldn’t order roasted vegetables on its own as kitchen... More

Hi Lukas, We're really glad you enjoyed the roast, we're very proud of it. We'll see what we can do in future to make ourselves even more family friendly. As for the murals on the building, we love them and feel they help reflect the combination of 'traditional' and 'modern' that we strive to offer inside the pub. We look... More

Having lived in SE15 for years and seen the gentrification of the area take on real speed, it is heartening to know that one of the earliest of transformations in the area holds on to its genuine heart and soul while going from strength to strength: the best craft beer in the area bar none; the freshest food, alternating daily... We came to The Old Nuns Head specifically to try the Burger Bear menu. Although we really enjoyed the pub and its selection of craft beers also. As it was a Saturday night the place was packed, so we did have a bit of a wait to get a table. Once we did get a table we ordered food straight... More

We've eaten the burgers four times now and haven't been disappointed.Definitely one of my favourite places to go for a burger. The fries are £3.50 a pop but one portion is enough for two or three people. Onion rings are really tasty too. Staff are friendly and helpful and there is always a relaxed atmosphere in the pub. We haven't... More

Went there for a christmas party. Downstairs was lively, beautifully laid out and great service. Would not recommend having a xmas party here however as the room upstairs is tiny. The toilets are also very small. But i wouldn't that put you off.

We went on a Tuesday evening (burger night, only option) , we had 3 burgers (1child half price burger). 1 double , 2 singles, 2 chips (£3.50 extra a pop), lemonade , small wine and a pale ale (£5!)...bill £43. Staff are nice and it does have a nice vibe, food was good..but way overpriced. Place was about a fifth... More

Hi HungryCabbie, The standard cheeseburger, with fries and a pint of house ale would have cost you less than £15 - you chose some of the more premium food and drink options and I hope you enjoyed them. The Greedy Bear is a huge double burger made using pure organic free-range beef from the best butcher in South London (Peckham's... More

Visiting London from Cornwall and this place was just what we wanted. It had a cosy and relaxing feel with a mix of sofas and tables with candles on, a good choice of beers and THE best burger I have EVER eaten. A traditional place with a trendy edge. Would like to return on a winter's day when the fire... More
