Tuesday burger night

Fantastic burgers, to die for onion rings, one time I just wish their chilli chips were actually available!! Never managed that yet.

Warmly greeted as we arrived. Great variety of beers and wines all served with expert knowledge and a smile. Ordered the Sunday roast, huge portions and seriously yummy food. Will be going back for sure, like a home from home on a Sunday afternoon! (Or any afternoon come to think of it) keep up the good work, not enough pubs... More

I absolutely LOVE this pub. Their focus on constantly offering something new and never standing still means there's a different pop-up restaurant every 4-6 weeks offering food from all around the world. They are an integral part of the community with their upstairs space being used by all sorts of local groups. I find the staff really friendly and knowledgable... More

Just had an awesome Sunday lunch at a pub close to where we live. The Old Nuns Head is fab. Gorgeous food at reasonable prices and a great atmosphere with friendly locals and bar staff. Nunhead is getting better and better and this pub is leading the way. Cheers guys. See you next Sunday.

Most awful Roast Meat undercooked and tough, Swimming in blood and too much gravy, we all left are plates full of food but staff didn't bother to ask why , charged full price for what left really bad taste in my mouth and almost ruined my Sunday ..... I will not be visiting this pub again that's for sure ....... More

Hi Dominika, I'm very sorry that you had such a bad experience. When people order the roast beef here they are given the options of rare, medium or well done. The only complaint that our staff received last Sunday was from someone who ordered a medium beef which came out a bit too rare. This was quickly exchanged and apologised... More

We visited here with a friend on Sunday 5th July 2015. The pub was clean and the staff were friendly the food looked amazing so we ordered a pork a chicken and a vegetarian choice, we sat outside in the beer garden which was really nice, the food came quickly I asked for Apple sauce and I was given the... Hi Tracey, apologies that not every part of your meal was perfect - I hope you brought this up with the staff on duty at the time. Gravy is VERY important to us, we now make sure regular taste tests happen throughout the day to ensure no meals are ruined by overly-salty gravy. More

Thanks for the nice comments, and sorry you seem to keep missing the Chilli Fries. We've recently tightened up on lots of supply issues, you should find the full Burger Bear menu available every time now (but occasionally some items will sell out on very busy shifts). More

Love going here on Monday when the Burger Bear is in residence. The staff here always look they are enjoying themselves, and are very welcoming and friendly. Family friendly. Yummy sunday roast. There is a cosy spot in the corner with sofas that I like to get. The building is very old and has a cosy, traditional atmosphere. Perfect place... More

We had a fantastic party here to celebrate my 50th birthday. The room was excellent, the food was great, the beer varied and delicious and the staff friendly and helpful.

Not having ventured to The Old Nun's Head for a while, Poppy and Banjo popped in for a taster. Immediately commenting to the manager that the return to it's decorative 1930's roots was pleasing. A reasonable mix of beers on taps and the trend for Yankee style grub was to be found, but not exactly their want for norishment, so... More

I had chosen this place as because of its Sunday Roast reputation and nearby playground that was perfect for my 5 year old son. Place was packed and we had been given the last table available (thank you). I have made the order at the bar but was confused as we couldn’t order roasted vegetables on its own as kitchen... More

Hi Lukas, We're really glad you enjoyed the roast, we're very proud of it. We'll see what we can do in future to make ourselves even more family friendly. As for the murals on the building, we love them and feel they help reflect the combination of 'traditional' and 'modern' that we strive to offer inside the pub. We look... More
