Best place for food and service

Was on vacation in London and The Oak in Notting Hill really stood out to me. We went to the bar/lounge upstairs for coctails and tapas. The drinks we're nicely presented and the tapas (especially the steak) was excellent. Downstairs we were offered a huge selection of wine (over 90 varieties) and... read more

Bad food, awful service, over-priced.. -It took the staff 45mn to find us a table, and another 2(!!) hrs to get the food we ordered immediately. -The fish was completely raw (!!!), and once we returned the dish the waitress admitted that it was raw, and only offered us not to pay for this dish (which by that point, we've... Dear Asi, I am truly sorry that you had a bad experience with us recently. I can assure you that is not a typical experience & certainly not what we aspire to. We take enormous pride in consistently providing both great food and efficient, friendly service. I would really appreciate it if you would be so kind as to contact... More

A friend of mine lives in the area and brought me there for dinner a few days ago while I was visiting London for business. The pizzas are really really great... Nothing you would expect from a London restaurant... Taste is good, food quality is good, size is ... hg-uge... and service is good too :) We ate the pizzas... More

Hi Charles, Thank you for the great review! However it appears you visited our sister restaurant near Shepherd's Bush on Goldhawk Road, The Oak W12 (sorry for the confusion!) but we are glad you had such a good time there. Next time you are in London & in Notting Hill, you should try us out too, similar style of food;... More

Been coming here for many years on&off but not recently due to a variety of reasons (mainly not being in the country) so was looking forward to coming back. Overall, perhaps it was best remembered rather than experienced again. The anti pasta starters were pretty uninspired and disappointing. The pizza was fine, if a bit stingy with the toppings but... Restaurant that looks like a pub from the outside but this actually a nice mediteranean restaurant. Tables are close together but in a non intrusive way. The food was excellent, one of the best pizza I have had in London.

Lovely, quiet upstairs bar (with amazing Bloody Mary's) with a delicious Italian restaurant downstairs. The pizzas are really good - particularly the white pizzas. It can get busy though, so best to choose your timings wisely!

We hadn't booked and so waited for a table in the upstairs bar, which I found noisy and unpleasant. The food was ok; the much praised pizza was good but not the best and was swimming in oil. We had some nibbles to start and these weren't great (olives over seasoned, padron peppers again too oily). The wine was overpriced.... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
