Very good meal wine a little expensive

They have some very interesting choices & is very obviously cooked well. The wine I felt was on the high side a £30 a bottle as you really go there for the food.We visited on a sunday evening after a theatre matinee. The place was OK but overall I felt it lacked some atmosphere & the staff were just... read more

I would love to be able to review this place as I'm a big fan of Mark Hix! However only wanted a drink? Had to queue, place was empty, explained that only wanted a drink, no difference so left

First impressions count and the first people we encountered at Hix were the friendly door staff. We didn't have to wait for long for a table in the bar. The bar tenders were quirky in the nicest way! They had us up shaking cocktails.

Ok the restaurant is great, the staff are very good but overall very underwhelmed by the food. I had a starter of sprouts (yes) - lovely but nothing special. Followed by the game pie. I felt the pie was very mediocre- no substance to it and really was dissapointed. Dessert was a great Yorkshire parkin. Had high expectations which were... More

Last year we went to Hix in Myfair and the experience was great, unfortunately Soho is not the same...The staff at the entrance is really nice, some of the waiters as well but the food was really disappointing, ordinary and it's not worth the price. The way in which the food is presented is really, really poor; the quality seems... More

Hix is a pleasant enough restaurant that charges too much for a middle of the road experience. My wife and I stopped off on a whim after an afternoon's shopping. With no reservation we were seated at the bar; it's a little cramped but perfectly acceptable. We ordered cocktails off the menu which were tasty if unspectacular. We opted for... More

Every time I dine her, I have a fabulous meal and a fabulous time. It is one of those restaurants where the menu perfectly suits my tastes, particularly when it makes ordering fish fingers in a restaurant acceptable! Everything is delicious, staff are super helpful and its central location makes it a convenient place to meet friends spread all over... More

Hix came recommended by a friend. Unfortunately, I have to agree with some other comments. Food was a huge disappointment and definitely not worth what we paid for. It is a pity because part of your experience in a restaurant is the atmosphere and the waiting staff. The waiting staff did their utmost to make this a good experience and... More

For a self proclaimed meat focused restaurant the part if Hix I enjoyed least was the meat. The steak I had had been cooked too quick and not rested so was tough. The desserts were fantastic though; be warned you won't want to share: they are small. The atmosphere was nice; a good hubbub. They are really packing the tables... More

Extremely disappointed with the food quality. Plate of ham was just that: a plate of ham with wilted shavings of celery that had sunk into the middle of the plate. Can only assume that it was prepared ready for serving sometime before we ordered it. "Heaven and Earth" .... a wild boar meatball was average at best. Fish fingers with... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
