Looking for a place suitable for a range of ages - thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Started with cocktails - which were a bit like alcoholic slush puppies (not cheap, but we were celebrating). We helped ourselves to salads - a little disappointing, plenty of choice, but all a bit tasteless. The real star of the show is the meat -... More

A friend recommended this place and it did Not disappoint. Not only was the food fantastic the staff could not do enough to make us welcome. The food came every few minutes with recommendations and suggestions. Left feeling full and very fontenot. Glad I parked a little up the road as I needed the walk. Highly recommended.

The meat is lovely, beautifully cooked and keeps on coming. I've been here four times and always enjoyed great service. Once, my group of friends were the last people left in the restaurant and instead of fearing they would try to get rid of us quickly they took delight in offering us as many extra servings as we could eat.... Word of warning-do not come here on a first date. You don't want to disgust your date into never seeing you again. After eating meat nonstop for a good half hour I entered into some sort of drug induced state-did I stop? Hell no. After recovering from meat sweats, we decided go hard or go home. Queue the salted caramel... More

Friends took us yesterday for Sunday lunch. It was our frist visit to the organised Whetstone restaurant. Previous visits to El Vaquero had been to the stables restaurant, which had bags of character but probably the resteraurant was more hap hazzard. Whetstone was great. Fantastic service from the young staff and a lovely mixture of salads, far too many to... More

The waiters come around with different types of meats including chicken, beef, lamb etc.. and it was quite exiting to see them carving to serve us on the table and in fairness it was juicy and tasty. The concept is unique and pleasant, the atmosphere was very good. However, I would have given them 5 star only due the bathroom, it... More

We were this restaurant's first customers when it originally opened in the stables in Mill Hill years ago and we have been going back on a regular basis ever since. The food is outstanding. Perfectly cooked meats, really original ideas for marinated chicken, huge array if interesting salads and the best chimichurri I've ever had. The staff are great too!... More

Have been to a few similar places but none with the variety found here - from chicken skewers in various marinades to various steak cuts, sausages in a variety of meats and hot pineapple which is definitely worth a try! While the buffet is not amazing you really go to be overwhelmed by the array of 17 (I think) different... More

This is such a great place... from the moment you book: via the lovely, polite and helpful Lesley in reservations to the greetings when you arrive by the charming manager Simon who runs a tight professional Service... through to the quality of service, the polite attention and of course the FOOD! Great choice of what you want, when you want... More
