Oh no, it's closing.....

First, the good news - this is a great Italian restaurant (with an English head chef/owner) in an upcoming part of town. The food is excellent, the service attentive and 'simpatico', and the space is well used and nicely decorated. Then the bad news - Zucca is closing next week (23 December 2015 I... read more

Arrived with no reservation on Sunday afternoon - no problem - a seat at the bar. The service was very attentive . The menu is short but the quality of the food is excellent. Started with rabbit liver bruschetta - excellent - followed by mixed seafood misto - mouthwatering. It is not particularly cheap but I think it is value... More

We've eaten here quite a few times and have always been very satisfied. In fact it's one of our favourite restaurants in London. Hoping that they find new premises and reincarnate somewhere else.

A pity to think Zucca will be closed by the end of the year. Exquisite fresh south italian food. a pleasant private room for 10 people.

I've eaten here a few times over the years, the food is very simple but very good. Last night 3/12 just didn't seem to flow very well. It took a while to be seated for our booked table, it also took a while to get a drink. The waiting staff had had a bit of friendliness removed and it showed.... More

Found Zucca by chance looking for somewhere to have lunch last Friday. Nice atmosphere, very light with lots of space with plenty of room between the tables. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was lovely, especially the fried zucca. It was served fairly quickly. The menu isn't extensive which I consider an advantage as they do what... More

I live nearby and cannot help but always ending up at this restaurant for weekend lunch dates with my partner or friends. It never fails to be consistent in terms of food and service. Service really isn't overlooked here…you don't even realise your water/wine has been re-filled or your plates have been cleared until its happening. It all comes across... More

Super atmosphere and great interesting menu. The tempura is fantastic and the pasta very differently inventive. Alessandro the sommelier was extremely helpful with his suggestions for a Sardanian red wine and post dinner drink from the Campagnia region. Well worth a visit

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
