Zucca has become my family's favourite 'occasion' restaurant as every meal there feels like a treat. The food is inventive without being pretentious, with the focus being on simple flavours celebrating great ingredients. Highlights include the Zucca Fritti, the swordfish (probably seasonal) and the chocolate semifreddo - probably one of my favourite desserts ever. Service is attentive without being intrusive... We headed to Zucca after a trip to the Tate Modern. (Check out the White Cube Gallery right down the street if you're there early enough.) The room is smart and modern. The staff was excellent. The food is a modern take on Italian dishes and none of them disappointed. The menu is small but with enough variety. All of... More

Went for dinner here last night, second time there after a good first experience. Ordered 2 starters to share, which were excellent, a pasta course and a cod main. When the pasta was brough out I found a hair in it and picked it out, the staff caught onto his before I needed to say anything and immediately came to... More

Nice food but poor value for money, especially the wine. Too much competition in the area so probably won't return.

Zucca provides a real restaurant experience: imaginative Italian food, changing menu, a creative and well thought out wine list. Only went once but would definitely go again, and recommend for anyone looking for a great restaurant, either for a special occasion or if in search of a truly great meal. The decoration isn't exactly what I preferred and gives an... More

I suspect the problem started with the hype. The "it's fabulous " set s bar that the restaurant failed to breach. The food is competent and the service above average but the place is soulless. I have eaten in a pizza express with more atmosphere which is a real shame and a real weakness. Would I go again, probably if... More

I'll own up right at the start - this is my favourite restaurant in London. We must have been here a dozen times now and this is where we take friends and family when they're in town. Our last meal was good as ever - Zucca Fritti, Squid Bruschetta, Buffalo Mozzarella with peas and mint, grilled swordfish. The wine selection... More

This was a surprise visit organised for my 60th birthday and what a fabulous surprise it was! The food was just amazing, In fact the last time I had an Italian meal that good was when I was in Sicily! The atmosphere was perfect, easy, relaxed and the staff attentive but not intrusive. The lovely lady who greeted us at... More

Tucked amongst Bermondsey's quirky streets is a jewel of a place for fresh, seasonal, perfectly balanced food. I have eaten at Zucca four times and on every occasion have had an amazing experience. The waiters are attentive in a quiet and helpful way, the lighting is soft with a lovely ambience. The lack of background music means you're surrounded by... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
