This was our second visit to Zucca and the high standards we experienced on our first visit were matched. All members of staff were welcoming, helpful and gracious. The superb food was presented in perfect portion sizes, leaving us satisfied without feeling stuffed. Excellent wine recommendations were well received. Will definitely eat at Zucca again.

I went to Zucca with my boyfriend for pre valentine's dinner. I ordered the Mussels as a starter and the day special Tortellini in Chicken broth as the main course. I noticed some stinking smell when a plate of mussels was put in front of me. Thought maybe the chef has put some blue cheese in it, and encouraged my... More

Went on Saturday 21st Feb, a Christmas present for my mother. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant. I frequent some of London's top restaurants and this is not one of them. They must have bought a bulk buy of veal as there was 4 veal dishes (starters and mains only have 5 each to choose from) on... More

We came for dinner at Zucca on a Saturday night, and at 6pm it was already buzzing - there's a really great atmosphere and the open kitchen contributes to this. The service is fantastic, our waiter explained the menu and made great recommendations. He was always around to check everything was OK but wasn't overbearing. We had their speciality of... More

Everything was perfect! The place is nice, cosy, clean, trendy but not too much! This is great for both a dinner date or a dinner with friends on a big round table. The staff is amazing! Present but not invading! They are really caring and you don't need to ask anything as they pay attention to every details :) No... More

Always full and in the heart of now fashionable Bermondsey, Zucca is an example of style triumphing over substance. Although the long zinc clad bar and artfully rough walls are undeniably cool, the food neither excites nor delights. Lowlights from a culinary perspective included limp underseasoned "Zucca Fritti" (some speciality!) and dull pasta. It's expensive too. Unless you just have... More

We just had lunch at Zucca. The restaurant is located down Bermondsey street, near the square, among a host of other nice places and belongs to the best of them. The interior is a mix of sleek contemporary design and rough edges concreat pillars by the open plan kitchen. It is always busy so book in advance ! The food... More

Forget the hype - because the signature starter of butternut squash fritti was oily and a little limp. The sea bass carpaccio, however, was exquisite and delicate. An honest house Chianti Classico (great restaurant value at £28) offered an excellent accompaniment to the agnolotti with G gorgonzola. Other hits included the salty caramel ice cream and cheese board. Warning: last... More

Great food but I think tis touch to beat Antico which is just a few doors down. Different type of food though. Zucca is very modern, stylish, tasty and pricey. Antico is more romantic, traditional but unbeatable atmosphere and food. If you do go to Zucca, start off with a gin cocktail in the bar underneath Antico!

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
