With an emphasis on vegetables in all dishes, Alexis provides a seasonal tasting menu with the best possible ingredients (British where possible) for omnivores and a vegetable option, as well as an A la Carte and lunch/pre-theatre option. Wonderful food, service and ambiance

Outstanding service and food in a quiet setting. Great romantic place. Located in a small house with many different rooms. Service was attentive without being overbearing. We loved it. Very expensive but worth it.

A sunny afternoon in late June, my husband and I visited Gauthier after booking the previous night. Right from the start it was an experience- gorgeous food, fabulous touches and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!!

This was a surprise destination for my birthday. The private Games room at gauthier had been reserved without me knowing about it. The room is fun, funky yet beautifully decorated. The canapés on arrival were absolutely marvellous and beautifully presented. Scallops, langoustines. truffle, sea bass and lamb (with mint) were cooked to perfection and very cleverly put together. The pre... More

Last visited early May and titled my review " Utterly brilliant " never thinking it could be improved on. Well it has ! Just sampled the eight course Summer Tasting menu and it was sensational. Incredible flavours and textures, the choice of wine for each course impeccable and the staff were as professional as possible. I have great difficulty in... More

Initially I gave Gauthier a scathing review for appalling service, I was contacted by Alexis Gauthier who apologised profusely and offered an explanation of what had gone wrong that evening, I won’t repeat what was said but I am satisfied with his explanation that there were extenuating circumstances. I accept this and therefore will resubmit my review giving the service... More

My friend and I had a set lunch here on 22nd August. My friend was using a wheelchair and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We sat in the dining room downstairs which was a perfect temperature, thanks to the air conditioning. The three course lunch and complimentary dishes were superb. Each element on the plate shone and... More

A very good friend treated me to lunch in this restaurant. It is absolutely out of this world, every aspect was perfection.

We had a bit of trouble finding this restaurant as we got turned around coming out of the Metro. Once we arrived every bit was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious. My only negative was our seating location. We were upstairs tucked into a corner and it was a bit warm in the room.

Romilly St. is quiet and narrow, quite a contrast to the nearby Soho streets and Shaftesbury Avenue which runs parallel to it. A former town house once Richard Corrigan's domain, and now the chef patron is Alexis Gauthier. The premise remains the same in that you ring the doorbell to gain admittance. A narrow staircase leads to the simply appointed,... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
