Great atmosphere, generally good staff and very good quality British food, down to earth but yummy. Not cheap but reasonable... Bit of a pain to get nice tables particularly when busy!

I think it is fair to say this is really a review for The Canteen's Afternoon tea not the rest of the food menu. If you are going to do Afternoon tea then please prepare to be disappointed. Basically its one sandwich each one cake and one scone. If it was advertised as this then you could choose if this... More

I like this place. Service is fast and the food is very good. I had the turkey and cranberry pie and it was very light. For London, the prices are fair.

City slicker prices, but refreshing change from usual chains (though it is a chain itself). Roast chicken particularly good if you can beat the traffic to it (they do say sta).

I often go to Canteen in the evenings, the food is simple straight forward english food, cooked well but not exceptional (hence the 4 stars), the desserts are great though but as a solo dinner at times, i love this place, as you can sit quietly and read and not be bothered by others, as in the evenings it is... Dropped in here for a lunch between meetings. Had the fish and chips which was fairly good. Very crunchy batter and soft fish inside. Chips were average. One small bottle of coca cola cost £3.50, which is a lot, so take care if you want soft drinks. This is a place that seems to have reasonably priced food but extortionate... More
