The real thing

Kind if a guy's place at night but we had excellent fish and chips. Sports on the tv so limited ambience and you go order your own food and drinks. Great location.

Popped into the Shepherds Tavern for a post-job interview livener and something to eat. It was in the few days immediately after New Year, so it was pretty quiet; when I entered I was the only person in there, although a few arrived later on as I was leaving. Thus I had a wide choice of where to sit in... More

If you're looking for inspired dishes this isn't your spot. It's yet-another Taylor-Walker pub, so if you've eaten in one you've eaten in them all. The food quality is good, just uninspiring. The beer selection is good (several in cask in addition to the usual selection of lagers and Guinness on-tap) The location is phenomenal, with a claim to being... More

stayed in Green Park over the Christmas period and found this pub to be open all hours and served the most fantastic pub food in the district, also offered toilet services to a family who called in and the staff were fantastic. If we could go back to have their rib of beef dinner again, i would walk from Worthing... More

Even though its small and gets pretty cramped up with people. It had an excellent Christmas decor and good service at the bar.

The Shepherds has been my work local for the last 9 years so what better place to hold my retirement party. Sonia and Veronica looked after us very well as did the lady behind the upstairs bar which is a relatively new addition. Some hot and cold nibbles were brought upstairs and were much appreciated. Thanks to Sonia and her... More

Maybe it was the time of day but this bar was quiet even though there were a few people in no atmosphere no music and no conversations taking place didn't hang around

A popular pub in the early evenings, when drinkers fill the bar and pavement for a pint and a chat before setting off out of the City. Lunch time was much different but still enjoyable and typical Cockney decor with lots of history. As good as it looks from the outside.

Started working in the area recently and have now visited on a couple of occasions. Not often that a pub of this nature has the feel of a 'local' but this one does. Staff clearly know the majority of their regulars and greet them on first name terms. Good choice of beers and lagers and the menu looks good too... More

I ordered the fish n chips (cod) and it was average, the staff was average. The pub lacked atmosphere and played pop music (that wasn't great). This pub is one of a few in this area, I can't see coming back here again. Good location, everything else was average.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
