Quality food for a pub

The Black Lion pub In Kilburn High Road, in my experience has a more elaborated food than most pubs in London. I went there twice for dinner with my family, in two different occasions. Their dishes are elaborated and delicious, with the same huge sizes of other pubs, dough. Every dish serves 2... read more

A great place with lots of outdoor seating for that rare London Saturday where you can drink and eat outside without getting damp or frozen. Lots of families and babies. They have ping pong tables as well in the mix creating a mecca for game playing for 8-25 year old boys.

We were staying in a hotel nearby and had passed this pub so we decided to pop in for dinner before heading off to the theatre. The pub was very busy, a member of staff was eating his dinner at a table, which he gave up for us as there were not any vacant tables. Dinner was delicious, served very... More

The Black Lion is proper old London pub which has high ceilings and dark old walls and floor. It also sells a good range of beers but I wouldn’t bother dining here because the menu is part of the chain that is widely available all over London plus it wasn’t that good the last time I tried it.

We went to the place, to eat something! It was our first day at London, then we asked for the fish and chips, and what a surprise: It was amazingly good!!! We drunk a beer and wine, that it was good too!

We had the fish and chips was OK but I guess being Canadian it was not as good to my taste as our shop in Winnipeg. The food was hot...and not overly expensive. Atmosphere just OK.

I included the Lion in my favourites list after taking it off because food was awful. My last 2 Sunday roasts were very poor. Service is bad and food of very poor quality. I always had the lamb and the reason of why I started eating at the lion again is because i though they've improved food and services because... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
