Your Italian family

Excellent location, hospitality and atmosphere. The food was tasty and well presented. We ordered two starters (pasta and fagioli / carabaccia -peas, carrots, onion on garlic toast with a whole egg on top) and we all ordered the seabass with fennel and tomatoes. All really good and cooked to... read more

Very tasteless caprese salad starter. Basically tasted like supermarket quality. Main pasta course was terrible, completley tasteless and lacked quality. Would never go again

It’s about time I wrote a review of my favourite Italian restaurant in London. If you’ve yet to visit, you’ve got to add this to your bucket list. La Famiglia, as the name suggests, is a family run restaurant offering the classics one would expect from any Italian household. What I love about this place is that I somehow feel... More

La Famiglia is one of those best kept little secrets, and known by all the right people. It has been around for almost 40 years, run by the family, and some of the staff have been with them since the beginning. I have yet to find a restaurant that is comparable to the selection and quality of the food served... More

Sunday lunchtime, Blue Skies , Sitting outside, Restaurant not busy - what could go wrong? Well we have eaten at La Famiglia a few times over the years, usually celebrating some occasion or other, so yesterday 18th April it was to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary pre Chelsea v Manchester United, so we were not in a hurry and ready... I typically eat here once a year. It is one of (if not) the very first Italian restaurants in London and for me, the best. The restaurant opened in 1966 and the founder sadly passed away in 2013. Very sad to say it has slipped somewhat since. My food on 11th April 2015 lacked seasoning and I got the wrong... More

I've had the pleasure of eating at La Famiglia twice in the past 6 months, once in the Summer and recently (March) both visits were memorable. First I need to explain that I am Italian/ American (my father was born in Rome). My family is serious about food, all food, but especially Italian food. I rarely go out to eat... More

Parents used to dine at La Famiglia throughout their youth. I returned on a date with partner a few months ago and had a fabulous meal. Very authentic, good quality Italian meal. The restaurant remains traditional and authentic; the service, wine, bread and food was superb. The food is of wonderful quality with great choice. Have been back twice since... More

We had been recommended La Famiglia for fabulous food and a great local and authentic Italian dining experience. We may have hit on a bad night or perhaps we are completely spoiled! The good bits were the quality of the meat - the beef carpaccio was good and the quality of the steak we ordered was good. However, we ordered... More

This long established Italian restaurant has to be one the best in London. They don't do anything very new or trendy, but their traditional cooking is second to none, and they have a lovely 'convertible' garden area too (the roof peels off in the summer). I've eaten there regularly over 30 years (under Alvaro's eye, now Marietta's) and it never... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.
