Great Place For Sunday Lunch

La Famiglia never disappoints. The service is typically Italian and the food is excellent. I usually go for the Tuna and its always cooked to perfection. Its pricey but worth it and as an added bonus is always good for people watching.

Sunday lunchtime, Blue Skies , Sitting outside, Restaurant not busy - what could go wrong? Well we have eaten at La Famiglia a few times over the years, usually celebrating some occasion or other, so yesterday 18th April it was to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary pre Chelsea v Manchester United, so we were not in a hurry and ready... I typically eat here once a year. It is one of (if not) the very first Italian restaurants in London and for me, the best. The restaurant opened in 1966 and the founder sadly passed away in 2013. Very sad to say it has slipped somewhat since. My food on 11th April 2015 lacked seasoning and I got the wrong... More

I've had the pleasure of eating at La Famiglia twice in the past 6 months, once in the Summer and recently (March) both visits were memorable. First I need to explain that I am Italian/ American (my father was born in Rome). My family is serious about food, all food, but especially Italian food. I rarely go out to eat... More

Parents used to dine at La Famiglia throughout their youth. I returned on a date with partner a few months ago and had a fabulous meal. Very authentic, good quality Italian meal. The restaurant remains traditional and authentic; the service, wine, bread and food was superb. The food is of wonderful quality with great choice. Have been back twice since... More

We had been recommended La Famiglia for fabulous food and a great local and authentic Italian dining experience. We may have hit on a bad night or perhaps we are completely spoiled! The good bits were the quality of the meat - the beef carpaccio was good and the quality of the steak we ordered was good. However, we ordered... More

This long established Italian restaurant has to be one the best in London. They don't do anything very new or trendy, but their traditional cooking is second to none, and they have a lovely 'convertible' garden area too (the roof peels off in the summer). I've eaten there regularly over 30 years (under Alvaro's eye, now Marietta's) and it never... More

Every italian could confirm that it's really hard to find proper food anywhere apart from italy . I personally went to la famiglia a couple of times and I loved it ! The food is simple but really tasty, there's a good selection of wine even tho the list looks a bit old . I absolutely loved the carbonara and... More

Just been bere for dinner with my boyfriend. The restaurant was full and very busy for a Saturday night dinner at 8,45pm! The service was perfect and very attentive from the beginning to the end of our meal, food is pretty good and prices are reasonable. Staff is very nice and polite. What else?We will definitely come back, hopefully we... More

Had dinner at La Famiglia recently. We like the food there, extensive menu and wine list. However we were six, seated very tight on a table for four... Were treated roughly by the pretending sommelier...However the food was very good,

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.
