Description: The third restaurant to be opened by acclaimed chef brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin, La Chapelle has been consistently praised, winning no less than 8 top restaurant awards in its first year, including AA London Restaurant of the Year, and Tatler magazine's Restaurant of the Year. Chef Patron, Jeff Galvin, provides a menu of modern French cuisine, gaining a Michelin star in the 2011 Red Guide, just a year after the restaurant opened. There is also a menu gourmand, prix fixe lunch, early dinner menu, and Sunday Roast lunch menu. The service, under the direction of Alessandro Piombino and his team, effortlessly combines warm, friendly and attentive hospitality with a fine sense of tradition and decorum, in keeping with the grandeur of this Grade II-listed building. The restaurant is one of the few restaurants in London to hold a vertical list of Hermitage La Chapelle wines.

Food very good. I had asparagus soup (velouté) followed by calves liver and mashed potato. I like the space/conversion from a chapel including hacking off the stucco from around the clearstory (high level) windows to leave bare brick. Service good. They take your bottle of wine away then pour it where and when they feel like. Why don’t restaurants just... More

4 of us dined in the expectation of very good food. We were disappointed. A variety of dishes were of no better than medium quality. They certainly did not justify the price tag of £85 per head including a medium priced Burgundy. Sauces for all dishes were overwhelminly rich and lacked subtlety. Guine fowl had almsot no taste. Parts of... More

My boyfriend and I went there on a three course deal. The food was pedestrian, tasteless and unattractive. My mackerel starter tasted and looked like herring with some scattered lettuce leaves. The pig cheeks I chose for main course were good, but nothing you could not find in a decent gastropub. To finish of I had panna cotta. It was... More

Glavin La Chapelle is a top class French restaurant situated in an atmospheric converted chapel near Spitalfields. We opted for the 7 course menu Gourmand with matching wines. Food, wine and service were excellent. You can expect exemplary French cuisine but this is not the place to go if you are looking for an imaginative tasting menu with the vow... More

This is a very good restaurant. Service attentive, food first class. My only criticism was the lack of atmosphere....just a bit too dry for me. Having said that it works as a business venue.

The restaurant is in a beautifully refurbished old chapel and has a great ambience. The welcome was warm and friendly and the staff are helpful and attentive. The food was lovely particularly the crab starter and the wine list is reasonably priced and interesting. All in all it was well worth the trip to the City from our hotel.

We visited La Chapelle for multi birthday celebrations, and we were certainly not disappointed. Service was wonderful, and we split the wine pairings with the tasting menu. Each dish was beautifully constructed, and the truffled brie was a course I still daydream about now. Gorgeous, sumptuous surroundings to eat in too - this building is so beautiful. The atmosphere was... More

We ventured here for a Birthday Meal and was not disappointed. The restaurant is steeped in character, set in a old chapel with exposed beams and brick it creates a magical environment for a culinary experience. The staff were very attentive, creating an relaxing environment. With the sommelier being particularly knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed a very nice 2010 Chianti... More
