The third restaurant to be opened by acclaimed chef brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin, La Chapelle has been consistently praised, winning no less than 8 top restaurant awards in its first year, including AA London Restaurant of the Year, and Tatler magazine's Restaurant of the Year. Chef Patron, Jeff Galvin, provides a menu of modern French cuisine, gaining a Michelin star in the 2011 Red Guide, just a year after the restaurant opened. There is also a menu gourmand, prix fixe lunch, early dinner menu, and Sunday Roast lunch menu. The service, under the direction of Alessandro Piombino and his team, effortlessly combines warm, friendly and attentive hospitality with a fine sense of tradition and decorum, in keeping with the grandeur of this Grade II-listed building. The restaurant is one of the few restaurants in London to hold a vertical list of Hermitage La Chapelle wines.

bistro with relaxed ambiance

a very relaxing place with good food and wine close to Liverpool Street Station. Next to the bistro is a more upmarket restaurant in a super old building and we shall try that next time we are in the city

We booked this as friends were over from Ireland and we wanted to take them somewhere nice. Having never been to GLC it was a bit of a risk but we needn't have worried. We all had the tasting menu which was very reasonably priced at £70 (including a cheese course). The food was all superb including the tomato course... More

Went for dinner with 3 other friends, the place itself is amazing, great design and feel really spacious. The food was divine, the crab lasagne sotf and full of flavour, Chateaubriand steak, done to perfection, proper classic French cuisine. The sour cherry soufflé melted in my mouth. The sommelier suggested great wine to accompany our food. The service is good,... More

Booked this on the off chance, offer was £29 for 3 courses plus glass of Brut. Decor was beautiful and modern, staff were exceptionally lovely. We actually arrived slight late as misjudged the travel times, but the staff didn't hold that against us! Ordered from the fix price menu and the food was outstanding. Kir Royal our favourite cocktail was... More

As far as business lunches go, this had to be one of the best! Purely because of the amazing food and service from these folk! The Galvin brothers have surely made one of the best eateries in London here! Despite a little problem with our main courses of which nothing was a problem for the fantastic manager Tony! The food... Had a superb dinner here with my husband. We went for the seven course tasting menu with wine and enjoyed every course. Particularly loved the cheese and dessert courses - tarte tatin was divine! I'm not comfortable with eating fois gras - and they happily swapped that for a smoked salmon option. All of the staff were attentive and helpful... More

We dined on the chef menu, and were very happy with the service and the wine. I was just surprised not to be offered any extras, as some sauteed potatoes would have really added to the meal. We'll probably be back for the Gourmand at some stage.

Dined on the set menu at £29 a head with the addition of complimentary glass of sparkling wine and a few olives: for the first time in recent visits to upmarket restaurants good bread and butter also included Limited choice - naturally smallish portions beautifully presented but lacking any real 'oomph' Carafe water £4 - wine list extensive but fairly... Staying in Spitalfields

Neighborhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
