The third restaurant to be opened by acclaimed chef brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin, La Chapelle has been consistently praised, winning no less than 8 top restaurant awards in its first year, including AA London Restaurant of the Year, and Tatler magazine's Restaurant of the Year. Chef Patron, Jeff Galvin, provides a menu of modern French cuisine, gaining a Michelin star in the 2011 Red Guide, just a year after the restaurant opened. There is also a menu gourmand, prix fixe lunch, early dinner menu, and Sunday Roast lunch menu. The service, under the direction of Alessandro Piombino and his team, effortlessly combines warm, friendly and attentive hospitality with a fine sense of tradition and decorum, in keeping with the grandeur of this Grade II-listed building. The restaurant is one of the few restaurants in London to hold a vertical list of Hermitage La Chapelle wines.

Visited the Galvin restaurant yesterday and had the seven course tasting menu with the wine accompanying each dish and I have to say we were delighted with the food, ambience, staff and the restaurant itself tucked away in Spital Square. One of the best meals that we have had and given that the restaurant was fully booked on a Wednesday... More

We had the 5 course tasting menu paired with wine. Fantastic! The signature crab lasagne was the best. Only (very slight) criticism is that the wine portions could have been slightly larger!

This was our first visit to La Chapelle and overall this was a great evening with excellent service and fantastic food over the 5 course tasting menu, great value at £29 pp. The only disappointment was that we had to wait 45 minutes for our table, and while we were offered complimentary drinks at the bar, this did little to... What a fantastic room !!! One of the nicest rooms to eat in in London that I have visited. As name suggests it was an old chapel but has been redesigned to make it a very modern room complete with mezzanine floor. Service was impeccable, without be over intrusive. Food was top notch with a very varied menu including a... More

Set in an old chapel, just behind Liverpool Street station, the venue is guaranteed to draw admiring comments. Service faultless, menu varied and high quality, with Prix fixe, and an extensive wine list(supplemented by a sommlelier who advised an expensive but fantastic series of wines). You must visit this place.

Visited for lunch on the 5 course tasting menu offer which was superb value for money. The building is lovely from the outside and beautiful inside, really nicely converted. We were greeted and seated by excellent staff and made to feel very welcome. Although the waiters were all very competent we did feel that the attention to detail slipped during... More

Food was excellent at this very proper, old-school, French restaurant. We opted for the Taste of Galvin Menu and I went for the wine pairing option with my five course meal. The Lasagne of Dorset Crab was the stand out course for me. Neither my friend nor I like blue cheese so an alternative of sorbet was offered. The food... More

We went to the restaurant with the August 5 courses offer. Location and staff are amazing. Some of the dishes however were probably not up to expectations for a michelin starred restaurant, particularly the chicken dish. Overall though, a very pleasant experience.

We have often eaten at Galvins Bistro but this was our first here. We had bought a 5 course tasting menu from an offer only available for August. We started with a delicious pate followed by ravioli of crab, chicken, cheese and dessert. Each course was delicious and not too small. A fantastic offer although 12% was added to our... More

Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
