Good food but had better Gaucho experiences

This was my third Gaucho I'd been to in London after Piccadilly and the excellent Richmond. Our group of eight were seated in a private dining room and well attended by the staff. The food (pre-ordered) was pretty good but not the excellence I've come to expert from the brand. Of course the... read more

The cornbread was supposed to be warm but was almost cold by the time it reached us. Probably a function of the freezing temp in the restaurant. The steaks picked were the 400g ribeye and the 300g churrasco? streak. The ribeye was more rare than the requested medium. The spiced steak was very tasty. The sides were mushrooms French beans... The food at Gaucho is truly amazing (although service was very slow the night we visited; discussions as to whether the chef had walked around to Spittalfields Market to find a cow started when we were 1hr+ from ordering and no sign of food). As good a steak as I have ever had (and I have eaten many). But, I... More

I had the Empanadas to start and they were stupidly nice and you have to try a steak for mains I went for the rib... More

I went here once and fell in love. With the food.. and the wine... Everything was perfect! They have a steak that has been marinaded for 24 hours - I recommend that and the wine from the highest vineyard in the world.

I booked a table online several months ago for our 25th anniversary. I'd asked for a view seat to make it more special. When we arrived they knew all about my request when we booked in. Unfortunately the upstairs part didn't open for an hour later, but we had the option of going back or choose a seat downstairs near... More

Booked this restaurant to celebrate our eldest son's 21st birthday and wasn't disappointed. Staff were very attentive and the food was outstanding! We loved the atmosphere as well. They finished off our evening by adding a Happy Birthday message to our son's dessert, it was a lovely touch. All in all a brilliant evening .

Turned up 30 minutes early which provided our greeter with the chance to pretend our table wasn't ready (it was) and therefore give her the opportunity to sell us some expensive drinks at the bar. The Sunday lunch was great taste and great value, the steaks were good but as usual overpriced. The service was inattentive and the music too... More

Dined on a Friday night with the restaurant full to bursting . Greeted by some glamorous young ladies who while attractive and dressed beautifully all looked as if they had been made from the same mould.......thin,high heels ,little black dress and long hair worn in a pony tail ......can just imagine the requirements at the interviews ! Had a drink... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
