A lovely find. ..

After a lovely day with friends we all converged on The Porchester for group drinks. Of the dozen or so of us we all had food - snacks, small plates and full meals. The food was amazing , the staff friendly and helpful (happy to take group photos) and the atmosphere warm too. The music got a bit... read more

Went here with a load of friends after a friend's wedding recently. About 12 of us just showed up and the staff were great about us shuffling around furniture! We had some great wines, and the share that me and my hubby had was amazing! It had mini burgers with peanut butter in - amazing! Admittedly the drunk guy who... More

What a modern gastro-pub should look like. Bright, airy, cheery, big tables to accommodate families or groups of friends and freshly upholstered banquettes for more intimate seating. A cosy secret garden good even in the cold weather. Bar area a bit small so the queues may be a bit of a pain when it gets busy, but service generally good.... More

This is my husband's "local" during our extended stay in London. I visited for the first time for after dinner drinks. Was struck by the fact that it did not have the cosy feel of a traditional pub -- however, it does seem to attract a fair number of regulars in addition to groups of young visitors from nearby hotels.... The Porchester, once a typical Young's Pub, is situated at the top of Queensway in Bayswater. A great position for a good local pub offering a satisfactory range of beers and food in friendly and cosy surroundings. But that was a couple of years ago, sadly since my last visit it has been 'improved' to become a rather large open... More

After having been in London for 2 days and wanting to eat some lunch at a pub we went to the Porchester. I'd been dying to have a pie and it was great! Great food (and cloudy cider!) before going off back home [abroad] again.

Proved to be our local pub for the hotel down the street. First ate lunch with a great fish sandwich and most excellent lamb/barley stew, accompanied by a good beer. Went back for dinner, haddock and bangers this time. Complimented Rick the manager on his job - staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Somewhat on the noisy side at night.

We visited the bar during a night out in Queensway. The pub friendly and the staff were quick to serve our beverages. This is a pub you must visit while out about about the area.

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
