This is my husband's "local" during our extended stay in London. I visited for the first time for after dinner drinks. Was struck by the fact that it did not have the cosy feel of a traditional pub -- however, it does seem to attract a fair number of regulars in addition to groups of young visitors from nearby hotels.... Nice and very English pub near to our hotel. Friendly staff and nice cold beer. Atmosphere was amazing.

The Porchester, once a typical Young's Pub, is situated at the top of Queensway in Bayswater. A great position for a good local pub offering a satisfactory range of beers and food in friendly and cosy surroundings. But that was a couple of years ago, sadly since my last visit it has been 'improved' to become a rather large open... More

After having been in London for 2 days and wanting to eat some lunch at a pub we went to the Porchester. I'd been dying to have a pie and it was great! Great food (and cloudy cider!) before going off back home [abroad] again.

Proved to be our local pub for the hotel down the street. First ate lunch with a great fish sandwich and most excellent lamb/barley stew, accompanied by a good beer. Went back for dinner, haddock and bangers this time. Complimented Rick the manager on his job - staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Somewhat on the noisy side at night.

We visited the bar during a night out in Queensway. The pub friendly and the staff were quick to serve our beverages. This is a pub you must visit while out about about the area.

Very disapointed about the outrageous behaviour of a male staff member !!! We were a group of 12 friends , meeting for a special ocasion . Has we were waiting for the other friends to arrive , we were aproached by the male waiter who told us off very clearly that the child between us was not allowed to eat... More

Just visited the new Porchester for brunch with a friend and I was very pleased! I live around the corner, and was very happy to find a new gastro-pub, suitable for all occasions so close! It is light, airy and arty with a warm atmosphere and I will definitely revisit for anything from working from my lap-top, a catch-up with... More

A very trendy pub since the refit in 2014. It's more of a wine-bar feel now but not in a pretentious or oppressive way. The orange window-booth seating is ideal for large group and the windows give good views outside for people-watching. I think the drinks selection could be better and hopefully in time there will be more local/independent craft... More

Neighborhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
