A swift but memorable lunch. Short of time so just two courses, beautifully prepared moist plaice, with perfect new potatoes accompanied by minted peas and broad beans. An excellent (and decent value) bottle of Albarino between us, and the meal finished off with English cheeses, a smelly and runny "brie" type, and a flavoursome but not overtart blue. Yum.

Just finished up another fine meal at Hix Oyster & Chop House, great food, friendly service and tasty cocktails too. I loved it! This restaurant isn't cheap, but good things don't come cheap! Definitely worth treating yourself...

I enjoyed a decent business lunch at Hix, and I would recommend it. The food was excellent, very well prepared and served. The service and knowledge of the staff was superb. It is quite a small place, so you will probably have to book if you're looking to seat over 4. The steak and bone marrow was really very nice.... More

Having read previous reviews on this resturant I booked it for my birthday. Having eaten at the Hix resturant in Lyme Regis many times and had a wonderful expericen I was really looking forward to my evening. On arrival we were disappointed in the location (tucked away down a side street full of rubbish). Well the food - uncleaned cray... More

4 of us dined here on Sunday, a birthday treat to me from my son and his girlfriend. The service was friendly, attentive but not intrusive (Dennis). Pork crackling starter and the Sunday lunch starter to share were all cooked to perfection! Ice cold beer in tankards was a nice touch. The roast beef was cooked quite rare, melted in... More

Being a sommelier myself I tend to eat out a lot with my other half. We had booked Hix with a voucher of £150.00 from Top Table and I must say it was one of the most laid back experiences I have had in a London restaurant. We were greeted at the door by a happy and polite man who... More

I took my son and daughter in law for a meal here and it was delicious. We had oysters - 3 kinds, so fresh they could have come straight from the sea. We had a couple of bottles of perfect wine. But best by far was the steak. Hanger steak is much underrated and it was perfectly cookedfill of flavour... More

Went last night with family after a last minute decision and table booking. Very easy for us to get to as we are outside London but on the same train line as Farringdon which is a 2 minute walk thankfully. Previously visited with friends but didn't fully appreciate the experience as it was after a full days drinking. We tried... More

We had the sharing porterhouse steak, the meat was exceptional, sadly to be let down with the potato dish. the staff were friendly, my dessert was nice but too rich for me, the chocolate mousse. The credit crunch ice-cream my partner had was superb, I wish I had chosen this! Location not easy to find as was down a side... More
