Great food in a quiet location

Like this place a lot - especially now all the masterchef Perry Jelly hullabaloo has died down! I work locally and use this place for business dinners quite a lot as the food is always high quality as is the wine list The downside is that tables are close together but I forgive that because the... read more

We booked for a Friday night expecting it to be busy but it was pretty much empty. The decor is tired and dirty and they've tried to pack as many tables in as physically possible. The staff were friendly and helpful and the oysters were absolutely delicious however the incredibly overpriced steak was very dry and nothing special. The menu... More

Of all the central London restaurants this is the one that draws me back more than any other. The bar set up is great even if you are alone and dining at the rail doesn't feel like you are a second class citizen. Service is on the respectful side of familiar and the menu changes enough to keep the regular... More

We had a late dinner here and chose to have two courses each including a porterhouse steak to share for our main. The quality of the meat was fantastic and the service was good. I was particularly impressed that although we were the last left in the restaurant, we weren't being 'encouraged' to leave. Thanks for a good evening.

I was there with my family today. Service was so slow. Price is extremely high for that food. Plate was so small. I don't like.

Food was fabulous- really fresh, delicious and well cooked and presented. The head waiter was really rude to us though. Maybe we weren't the right type of people he thought should be in his restaurant!!

As this restaurant is mixing it with the high end it should be a lot more memorable for its quality, ambience and food rather than leaving an impression of being overpriced, limited in its menu (there are plenty of starters but I struggled to find one and Im certainly not picky) , stingy on its portions and generally very average.... One of the most disappointing dining experiences we have had in London. What should have set alarm bells ringing was the almost empty restaurant that become only half full as the evening progressed. Paper tablecloths to save on linen bills is so not what one would expect from a restaurant as over priced as this. On asking what dishes came... More

For the price paid its just not good enough. The atmosphere is very good, the staff are excellent, but the food is a little meh... Our starters were small and a little bland. The best main was the beef pie, but the steaks were average for price paid. The wine list was not that extensive but very expensive. I would... More

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighborhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
