I went to plum valley for the first time recently and didn't mind it at all. It stands out amongst all the other restaurants in Chinatown as the exterior is quite modern. An absolutely beautiful restaurant that is clearly trying to be a cut above everywhere else in Chinatown. The menu ranges from old favourites to stuff like ostrich and scallops, with mains starting from around ten pounds. The positives- the mapo tofu was excellent, some of the best I had in Chinatown (although not authentic, no Sichuan peppers). All food was... More

Went there with my husband for a quick dinner after work. Pi pa prawns dish is to die for and last time we went we thought we would try something different. Ostrich is absolutely amazing. Compliments to chefs for getting those dishes right every time we go. Can't wait to go back.

I visited plum valley fine dining for a nice break from all my uni work after doing well at a presentation i thought I would treat myself and wasn't thrown off at the 'fine dining' labeling as this usually means its going to be a quite pricey meal. I do consider myself a foodie as I have experienced a lot... More

Pretty average from a Chinese person rating a Chinese restaurant. Perhaps I expect a little more but I felt it was quite similar to a lot of Asian places. The service was similar to what would be expected from a Chinatown restaurant. Overall it did not give an entirely high class atmosphere as it charges. The food is clean and... More

Absolutely delicious: I've lived in Asia Pacific since '88 and really know my way around Thai, HK, Chinese and Malaysia menus yet I have to say Plum Valley didn't disappoint. I would say any if it was the best I've tasted but I was wowed by the consistency of the creamy king prawn curry, the spot on crispy aromatic duck... More

Looking from the outside, you would think that this restaurant looks really upmarket and therefore would have expensive food. It certainly is more upmarket in terms of the stylish setting, but the menu items arent any more expensive than the other chinese restaurants around chinatown which tend to be overcrowded and dont have much ambience. The service is efficient. The... More

my friends and i went to London for the day and decided on Plum Valley for our evening meal. The food was over priced, nothing special and why I gave it 2 stars? we spent £265 and for the service, it was not a good experience. The wait for food was too long, the food was served all at once... More

I have been to this Resturant many times, with friends, family and work colleagues. Each time the food has been excellent and the staff have been friendly and attentive. They stand out from the crowd of restaurants in China Town, with a modern decor and polite staff. I have no hesitation in recommending this Resturant, from the amazing food (specific... More

My family and I have been going to Plum Valley for a few years probably once a month if not more often. As many reviewers point out this eatery is a little more upmarket than the average London Chinatown restaurant in both ambiance and food offer. We go mainly for dim sum at lunch although we did also take guests... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
