An impromptu visit

food is pretty good. The staff very courteous. You might want to book a table before walking in although we got very lucky. Looks busy.

We booked Browns for afternoon tea for our visit to London. The decor was very impressive and clean and the staff were friendly. We asked for sandwiches without butter but after eating one sandwich we realised there was butter on the rest. Cream cheese and cucumber was advertised on the website as one of the selection of sandwiches but we... More

Visited Browns on Valentines day and was lucky to get a table on walk in... The 1st thing we received was a note saying we had to leave by 18:30... That gave us an hour and a half... Not bad I thought... The food was very good but the service was shocking... At 18:30 we still hadn't had dessert and... More

My wife and I were celebrating a special occasion and had booked a trip to London to the theatre. We arranged to eat at Browns and were told in the morning at 11.00 that it was not necessary to book a pre-theatre table for that evening. On arrival at 6.00pm we were told we should have booked and there were... More

Booked Browns for dinner after matinee. Arrived a bit early but they sat us straight away. My king prawn starter wasn't that enjoyable and rather tasteless but main course was very nice. 2 of my fellow dinners had ordered scallops for starter but they had run out so had to order something else but both said that was enjoyable.Service good... Food was mediocre (steak as very tough and chips were very plain-no seasonings) and the restaurant was very loud! Though had a great server! Convenient to theatre but would look for another place to eat!

Very busy in the early evening with a real buzzy atmosphere. Greeted very professionally with enthusiasm and clear details of when the table would be available. A fixed price menu available before 6.30pm and an extensive a la carte. Fixed price menu gave a good choice whilst the a la carte gave the breadth of choice you'd expect with some... More

Browns happened to be immediately adjacent to Shakespeare in Love so we did an "impulse purchase" and dropped in for pre theatre dinner and were very pleasantly surprised. The salmon appetizer was excellent and well presented and the very English chicken pot pie was superb. Thanks for the exemplary service from Nadeem.

Difficult choice in London: where to have afternoon tea. More famous places beckon but their prices deter families somewhat. We enjoyed a very pleasant and good value afternoon tea at Browns on St Martin's Lane. For £16 for two, you get sandwiches, scones and cakes plus a pot of tea. Atmosphere is nice and the service very good. Would certainly... More

It was for our "Jolly Boys" celebration to mark the 70th Birthday of Brian (one of our older members) that we came to Browns for a lunch time meal on Friday 13th of February. The meal and wine consumed could not have been better (the seven of us ordered using a mix of choices from the lunch time fixed price... More
