Hotel restaurant's frequently come with warnings about captive audiences... Not this one, it can compete with any stand alone restaurant, relaxed elegant furnishings with a good menu and friendly efficient staff. It is located in The Kensington hotel, adjacent to the bar and there are the comfortable sitting rooms nearby to enjoy an after dinner coffee/liqueur. Worth a visit even... More

Although a table for 3 was booked, there was no indication on entering the Hotel that the restaurant even existed.......no invitation, no display menu...until we asked for direction to the Town House restaurant.....comfortable and airy, bijoux-style ( few tables) and mainly hotel diners, The Dorset crab was totally "natur" - could have done with an imaginative dressing. My wife should... More

My dear friend Kathrine and I visited the Kensington Hotel in South Kensington for the experience of Afternoon Tea. We are just amazed about the sincere and outstanding service from the waiter George in the lounge. Could not meet a more professional, likeable and service-oriented individual than George. Warm and personal, friendly and profoundly interested in the customers well being.... More

It was the first time for all of us and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit! We tried a number of different starters, I personally would recommend the hummus, superfood salad and the house made brown bread… they were all fantastic and our servers at the time were all friendly and efficient. I'll definitely be going back!

I won’t go into the rather dull details of why I ended up having dinner at this restaurant in an unremarkable South Ken hotel one evening, but I did, and sadly nothing that I had was noteworthy enough for me to even begin to contemplate a return visit. The décor itself was fresh – having just been refurbished a month... More

My friends and I like to try and get together for lunch at a restaurant we haven't tried before at least once a month. Townhouse restaurant has been on our list for a while. The restaurant is tucked inside the Kensington hotel- lots of natural light and plush velvet seating with a hint of subdued lighting. We had our coats... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
