We ate here with friends visiting from overseas. We are Londoners and wanted a good choice with decent service (not always the case). We were not disappointed. The restaurant is tucked away but if you consult a map before you go it is quite obvious where it is located (next to Liverpool Street) We were early and had a drink... More

Ignore all the downsides - incredibly rude bar staff upstairs, shabby décor, poor restaurant layout - and focus instead on the wonderful food. No one in this part of town does steak as well. My rare rump steak was perfectly cooked (and, at 18 pounds, a bargain for the City). The waiting staff were friendly and attentive. If you're down... More

Restaurant difficult to find, down an alleyway. Decor looked like it needed updating. The oyster bar is on the ground floor and the restaurant downstairs. The music was played from a piano, it wasnt my choice of music but some clapped occasionally. The waiter was knowledgeable and very helpful in helping us with our choice of wine and food. The... Chose this restaurant because of the live music offered, so not over impressed at being sat in a far corner of the restaurant with no view of the musicians and music piped through speaker. The waiter was charming and extremely attentive but gave quite a few selections no longer available and the wine we chose disappointingly also not available. Fish... More

I found this restaurant to be a charming and authentic gem hidden in the heart of the city and I found nothing out of place. The steak and wine were excellent along with the ambiance of the place, I particularly enjoyed listening to the piano being played. Don't forget to reserve a table and to look up the location as... Really fabulous food - just can’t fault the quality at all. Steaks very much on a par, if not better than Gaucho or Hawksmoor. Wine list? About as good as you will see anywhere in London. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere was really buzzy on a Friday afternoon. Bar was also fun in the evening. Only reason this is... More

I booked to have the two courses and a glass of Prossecco for £20. I took two friends with me and we had an early dinner at 6pm Friday. It was lovely. It was obviously quiet with it being 6pm but the pianist was great and created a lovely atmosphere.

The bar is a bit noisy, but that's the price of popularity I guess, however the noise levels go down in the restaurant which has a great ambience mainly because of the piano player. Staff are friendly and relaxed. The menu is quite steaky but with a good sprinkling of seafood and joy of joys offal - specifically kidneys. What... More

I visited Boisdale, after I was lucky enough to win a voucher for a meal here, which also meant that I was even luckier not to have to worry about the cost (which is suitably expensive, being in the heart of the City of London). My partner and I were welcomed by friendly, chatty, staff, and settled down to a... More
