My boyfriend and I visited on a Sunday afternoon. Proper pub food, just what we wanted. I had pie and mash, he had steak and chips. The food is expensive but well worth the money! We sat in the garden, which was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We will defiantly be returning!

We visited this pub a few weeks ago on a weekday for lunch. The Club sandwich was good, the portions also generous and the triple-cooked chips pretty okay too. Went back with friends today and we only wanted sandwiches - a bad move! On ordering 3 roast beef sandwiches with horseradish we were advised that the beef wasn't ready yet???... More

We went to this establishment - then the Rose and Crown - three years ago. We vowed never to return after a dreadful experience. Just last week we relented in view of the change of name and new décor (but tellingly, the same ownership). The refurb is excellent and really well done and of course the position remains good looking... More

I don't know how to advise you of an error so I'm putting it here as our review of 24 June 2013 is not correct as it doesn't refer to this place at all which we have never been to. The Cricketers we reviewed was the one at Sarratt in Hertfordshire. I cannot understand why it has been put here.... More

Went in for lunch on a Saturday. The food was terrible. Quality of the food was bad for the money as well as the presentation. Our food arrived after about 50 mins and was cold, so we sent it back. The same food was returned to us about 15 mins later and still cold --- we think they had put... More

Visited this pub in June 2014 and disappointing, Mains at roughly 15£ are pricey, especially considering the food is not of a particularly high standard, certainly not the lovely gastro style food which you usually associate with those prices. But the main issue was the poor service and the frustratingly unresponsive rude staff. The service was muddled with us receiving... More

We went here on Saturday afternoon. First of all the soft drinks we ordered from the menu weren't available which spoilt my daughter's treat. There was confusion over the menus but we eventually ordered. We waited quite a while , then my daughter's food arrived but nothing else. It then turned out she had been served someone else's order. Ours... More

A friend and I stopped here last weekend for a 'gastropub' lunch. I ordered the burger and he ordered the duck confit. The food was okay, but nothing special, certainly not for the price. At first, the staff stayed behind the counter, engaged in their own private conversation and seemingly disinterested in the customers. After we had finished eating, a... More
