If you are looking for a quick but interesting sandwich look no farther than this French place in the heart of South Kensington. The owner was super helpful and friendly as we waded through an extensive list of filled baquette sandwiches and paninis. The bread is baked locally but ingredients flown in from south France.

We visited Raison d'Etre on a school trip, to allow students to practise using the French they had learnt in class. Matthieu, the owner, was a fantastic host and made our nervous students feel completely at ease as he helped them with their French. The other waiting staff were just as friendly. The salad we ordered was healthy and fresh,... More

Visited in 2013 and was not impressed with the goats cheese salad. However, today we had a perfect summer lunch. Gorgeous combination of crayfish and salads. delicious! Thanks!

Service excellent and sandwiches very good. We were a large group and everyone had a great lunch. The owner was very friendly with the kids. Will go there again soon.

Just a few hundred yards from South Kensington tube station Raison D'etre is a cafe well worth seeking out. The food is first rate, the coffee is perfect and the service is second to none. Excellent value and very friendly. A little piece of France in the centre of London.

When you're fed up with all the Starbucks and pret-a-manger chains, come here. You will be treated like a human being and you will get original and very tasty sandwiches

I found this place on TripAdvisor and fell in love with it. My fist visit was on May 15 2014 and then went on a 2 month trip around europe. While in Paris, Lyon and Nice I couldn't find a better place to get a sandwich. I extended my trip to stay in London a few extra days and am... More

Delicious breakfast options, well made lattes and over the top hot chocolate! The customer comes first with friendly and responsive service. Sit outside on Saturday morning and take in the Kensington farmers market!

The hardest thing to do when you visit Raison d'Etre is to pick a sandwich from their great menu! Everything seems appetising, and you can add or remove ingredients if you wish... I decided to go for the New Yorker sandwich today, and I have no words to describe how I felt when I was eating this gorgeous sandwich in... More

This is a real find. Very close to the Natural History museum and the V&A. French staff and lots of French clientele. Excellent prices for the centre of London. On a relatively quiet street with some outside tables. Interesting French baguettes with some unusual cheeses. Very highly recommended!
