Recommended by a local. We had a quick couple of salads for lunch. Delicious and good value. 'We're independent. Spread the word!', said the manager when I thanked him. Pleased to :)

I'll keep this short. Go here for breakfast, lunch, tea ... Just go there. You'll never get to try everything on the chalkboards - although you really should make an effort to. Delicious baguettes, amazing focaccia and hands down the best little green devil of a juice I've ever tried. Great music, great service, greater stache. And just plain'ole greatness... More

The restaurant has a rustic French charm, the staff and most clients seem to speak French, which is a good indication of the quality of the place. The food is good and the coffee is OK, I had better, but it is the atmospher and staff that make it

The owner, Matt, was attentive to both me and my daughter. We had an early morning scrambled eggs and bacon which was absolutely delicious, before going to The Natural History Museum. The espresso was also precisely what the doctor ordered. Seems like quite a literary crowd in there with lots of interesting locals. Wish I lived around there and I... More

Bute street in South Ken is worth the extra little distance to avoid the tourists traps around the station. Deservedly nominated for best coffee in London. This little cafe serves the most delicious baguette sandwiches that I know. Great atmosphere and service. Well worth le détour, en plus des croissants divins.

As we all know, a 13hr flight can be exhausting, what with our arrival at 8am in London; a good cup of coffee goes a long way. Raisin D'être serves excellent coffee tt shook my jet lag off. The aromatic smell of bread drew my family and I to it in the 1st place. Beautiful baguettes and croissants with the... More

Beside Lyce Francais school in South Kensington you would think your in Paris when you stop by for breakfast. Croissants as perfect as you would expect to go with your coffee. All French staff make this little place a perfect place to start your day.

As the director of the language Centre of the French Institute, we have been working in close partnership with Raison d'être for over two years and it has been a real pleasure to interact with its manager and its staff. The products are always fresh and of great quality, always served with a smile. Keep up the good work !

When you live in London you can eat any kind of food you desire, the world of cuisine is within walking distance or a few minutes on the tube. Sometimes you just want a sandwich and when I eat out I want something that is nothing I would ever make. I heard about this place from a friend and was... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
