Beautiful food - but lacking innovation

I visited Ducasse with my husband in March, on the back of a visit to The Fat Duck. We were expecting an amazing three star experience, complete with great service and food. The service was impeccable - the staff were friendly and chatty, and made us feel special. The food was delicious - but... read more

I took a friend for lunch on her birthday and we had the £60 (excluding service charge) lunch hour menu. The dining room is large and modern and, to me, undistinguished. But unlike Le Gavroche, there is much more room and light. We were both happy with the food though as I’m trying to be vegetarian, I had the homemade... More

Had dinner at Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester with a friend last night. It was her first time to eat here - and she is a fussy eater. So I was looking forward to her comments. As usual the service, the food and the ambience were excellent. We both had 7-course tasting menus (she had pigeon, I swapped out for... More

Enjoyed the seven-course tasting menu paired with wine (not the +wine option but a carafe and a couple of glasses as suggested by the sommelier). Food and service excellent. Elegant decor and calm atmosphere. We had high expectations (rightly so) and were not disappointed.

Service was fantastic, couldn't be faulted in any way. We had the lunch menu, frogs legs, brill, chicken and strawberry garden desert. Each course was well crafted and executed perfectly. The small littles touches made this lunch special... The best macaroons I've tasted and even bread to die for. Definitly reccommend.

We enjoyed a fixed price menu on a leisurely Friday afternoon here. It was a truly memorable experience. Arrival is a bit of a let down, as you arrive in the Dorchester Foyer and have to fight through lots of tourists having afternoon tea in the lobby (yes, even at 1 pm). The restaurant is at the end and is... More

Alain Ducasse in London does not match his restaurant in Paris, but besides that it is an unbelievable meal. The wine parings with the degustation dinner were perfect. If you are looking for an over-the-top experience in London, this is as good as it gets.

Our fourth visit over the years on special occasions. The evening of our visit, 28th April they had a private party and closed off a third of the room overlooking the road, so the room felt small, claustrophobic and noisy. Poor ambience for a *** Michelin place. Food was fine, chicken quenelles and lobster good, agneau d' lait very good,... More

After a quite doll entrence (you have to go through the hotel lobby) the restaurant appears. The beautiful green wall makes up for the lack of windows. The food was out of this world. The service was so good that one of the staff, he bonded with my wife, was told (by the head waiter/butler) to not attend our table.... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
