Description: Independently owned & managed pub The Marquis of Westminster reopened in...
Independently owned & managed pub The Marquis of Westminster reopened in February 2013 following a complete refurbishment. Often described as Pimlico’s village pub, The Marquis is back to doing what we do best, traditional home made British food including wonderful world famous fish and chips, sausages & mash, Sunday roasts and burgers! With a pub, a fantastic restaurant and one of the best function rooms in London, we have created a super-pub, which still has the feel of a British local. Local Pimlican Christopher Hayes bought The Marquis from family friends and re-opened it in June 2006; his parents and grandparents were also pub owners in Pimlico at The Coach and Horses, so Chris is proudly continuing this family tradition in the local area. Matthew Surridge joined in 2008 as General Manager and together they have grown the business so that it now features well on Trip Advisor’s places to eat in London. For those that have not been here before, the people have spoken so come see what we are up to and why many believe us to be London’s best pub. Whether its a pint of ale, traditional British pub food, or an awesome party we have something for everyone!

Good food

Nice pub food. The roast dinners on Sunday are tasty. The fish and chips are good. The sticky toffee is also very good. Friendly service. Probably a touch too expensive but nice nevertheless.

Chose this after researching menu. Several real ales for the ale lover and unusual veggie options for veggies fed up of risotto and lasagne. I had a side order of horseradish coleslaw which was great. Plenty of wines by the glass . Service was fast and friendly. I will return with my husband

For years we came here for a good fish & not a good chips. The fish was perch, quite unusual but delicious. Now we got cheap shellfish. The chips were always of variable quality, from thin fast food to Dutch style fatty overdone. So we chose salad as a substitute but got a leaf something not worth a mention. This... More

Walked in and had dinner and drinks. Been two weeks on the road from New Zealand and so far tonight was the best meal. I had the lamb and my wife had the steak. 10 put of 10! Highly recommended.

Walked past this pub and had to go in. The bartender was very friendly, the decor was rustic but charming. Good selection of beer and wine. I had a Doom Bar, my first ever and it was wonderful. Went upstairs for Sunday Roast Beef. Best Yorkshire pudding I've had in a long while. Beef a little over done, but tasted... More

I ate here recently with a group of friends over from America. The service was superb, very friendly and willing to offer advice. She also allowed us to swap mash for chips, and make a few adjustments without any queries The food was, for the most part excellent. Those who had the lamb said it was delicious, and suitably pink.... More

Popped into the Marquis of Westminster for a quick unintended pit stop whilst in the area, first amazing day of the year and ferociously hot etc. No garden in that respect but seating outside, albeit on the road. Good selection of real ales and largers, I opted for a pint of Peroni..I'd commented on another establishment in Victoria charging £5.20... More

The Marquis of Westminster serves the best tasting Bitters in the area....by a long shot!! I love the Fish & Chips there and the Steaks are always pretty tasty too!! This is my favourite pub in the area and when the sun shines it is great to sit outside and chill. There is always a great selection of Bitters and... More

Enjoyed the fish and chips and English roast beef with yorkshire pudding. Good service as well. Ate here our first night in London and near our hotel.

Staying in Pimlico

Neighborhood Profile
Pimlico
Time spent in Pimlico is a slower-paced affair than most other Central London neighborhoods. This largely residential area orderly arranged beside the Thames, is a treasure trove of quaint pubs, subtle architectural charms and local boutiques. Here, art lovers thrill at the chance to visit the world class Tate Britain gallery for its collection of British art from the 1500s to the present. For peace and quiet and some downtime spent along the Thames, Pimlico is highly recommended.
