I was having tea yesterday and noticed two lovely and polite brown skinned ladies asking for takeaway tea. After walking past them numerous of times the European waitress said 'If you're after a takeaway you'll have to wait.' They were shocked, as were I but said 'yes no problem.' But was followed by a very rude answer by the waitress... More

Acceptable alternative to expensive breakfasts in hotel; for less than 10 £ you can have decent stuff here. But the service is dreadful; slow and inefficient, and rude. They ignored us when we entered the shop; we had to ask twice to be given the menu. Then the lady slammed the toasts and tea on the table after 20 minutes.... More

Had breakfast here twice this week while staying in hotel nearby. Good prompt service, busy when we went but soon served. Reasonable prices, lovely smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Great place for breakfast, coffee and cake or light lunch.

We were a group of 5 that head breakfast here on a Saturday and luckily got here just before it filled up completely. We sat upstairs and it was very hot. The food was good but you could see that the waitresses were run off their feet. We went back on Sunday (as it was the closest place to our... More

I had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch here. My husband and I shared a plate of sandwiches followed by scones and tea. Very traditional English experience.

We ate our breakfast here while staying at a nearby hotel which was charging £17 for breakfast. We found the food to be reasonably priced, it was well made and presented and freshly made. My husband had the full breakfast both days which came with toast and orange juice and tea or coffee, I had porridge, my daughter an omelette... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
