Fun and Fancy at the Sherlock Holmes

Fun place to have a yellow speckled hen ale and fish and chips or meat pie. Easy to find location. Vintage decor. I expected Sherlock and Watson to come in for a pint.

The food was good and came out quickly but the service was lacking. There were a lot of tourist eating here and the atmosphere was pretty cool! We ate upstairs because the downstairs was full and we had our toddler with us - this is the only time I felt like we were frowned at for bringing a child into... More

The idea of a Sherlock Holmes based pub is interesting since the person is pure fiction, but this place was a nice find. My family ate in the restaurant upstairs. There is a diaroma of Sherlock's study in the place, behind glass, that is cool looking. There are only about ten tables upstairs, but this makes the experience even more... More

While this is a themed pub I definitely enjoyed having a couple of pints here. Great atmosphere and people watching. I'll definitely stop again for pints

A good spot to stop for lunch food was fine and good service. Typical pub food, somewhat strange diorama but fun place to visit.

Had to stop by for a pint and a snack in his namesakes pub. Average decor, which doesn't really scream Sherlock Holmes, but I didn't expect a Disney adventure. Great beer and good food, as expected. Giant Yorkshire Puddingg was fun, and tasty.

Busy pub but managed to find a free table. Good real ale if chaotic service. Had 2 normal standard pub grub meals, served quickly and pleasantly. One of the staff seemed to get things continually wrong and must have been a trainee. Sat under a stuffed hounds head which could have been off putting. Nothing out of the ordinary, just... More

Good little pub with decent food and drinks. Plays on Sherlock Holmes for the menu and has nice feel to the place. The staff was nice, food was good. When we were there it was a bit heavy on the tourists crowd, and I was one of them. I don't think it was too distracting as a all lot of... More

I visited this pub twice during my stay - it is a wonderful traditional pub filled with Canon Doyle memorabilia. The staff were friendly & the service quick. All the old traditional British dishes are available at reasonable cost (for London). Don't forget to have Spotted Dick & cCustard for dessert. Delicious.

We were greeted by a very personable young lady and shown to our table which was right next to a Sherlock Holmes mini-museum so to speak. It was a little hokey but fun at the same time. After cocktails we were presented with a good menu which had some English classics listed. My wife opted for the quintessential Fish &... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
