Opened in November 2006, An Nam Restaurant is Croydon's favourite spot for authentic Vietnamese food. In early 2007 owner Myoi Cao surprised locals by winning Croydon's Oriental Chef of the Year competition, beating the likes of Wagamama and Miso head chefs to the top. An Nam has since grown from strength to strength, popular among south Londoners and even far-off visitors from around the UK. About us: Chef and owner Myoi Cao has lived in south London since 1981 and worked in the restaurant trade for over three decades. Her culinary roots, however, are found halfway across the world in the southern Mekong region of Vietnam. Myoi had long-memorised her mother's recipes and over the years has expanded her repertoire with regular trips back to southern Vietnam and Cambodia. Southern Vietnam ("An Nam") is known for its abundance of seafood, fresh vegetables and herbs, and for its bold flavours - lemongrass, fish sauce, tamarind and chilli.

Always amazing!

Oh how I love this place. Yes it is tucked away back and beyond a Chinese Supermarket but boy oh boy how good the food is. The spring rolls that I always have to have, are out of this world crispy, and the salads are absolutely a party to one's taste buds; the salads are so flavourful and fresh... read more

I should probably start by saying that I work opposite the glorious Mien Tay Vietnamese restaurant near Clapham Junction, so I've been spoilt and have high expectations. But based on the reviews here, my partner and I chose An Nam as our Saturday night place to dine and catch up with old friends. First of all, the location is pretty... More

Hi Artemesia I'm sorry you were disappointed with your meal on Saturday night and thanks for leaving us a review. Our crispy rice noodle dish is a house favourite and made with puffy rice noodles - not egg, as our menu indicated - so it soaks up the sauce and may be different to what you've had elsewhere. As for... More

Service is good/average but the food there is exceptional. Authentic Vietnamese, does the staple Vietnamese dishes well.

The food is the star of this restaurant. I have never had substandard food in An Nam. Every time we dine in An Nam, we wonder why we do not dine there more often. The surroundings or the service are not amazing, but that does not matter, the food in this restaurant is the star of the show and it... More

Easily some of the best food I've ever eaten. The quality is consistently high. If you're near, do yourself a favour and visit it - this is a place dedicated to one of the finest forms of cooking. I try to eat here twice a month. I keep going back. Ignore the Decor - you go for the food. Be... More

We've just got back from An Nam, and we all so fully happy with delicious chargrilled sea bass, (massive size ) very surprise with whole lemon grass stuffed inside, as I have so much knowledge with oriental cuisine, I expected a very high standard of all dishes that we ordered. I would like to score 6 stars, we ordered ,... More

We have eaten here 3 or 4 times usually on the way to / from IKEA. The food is delicious and really fresh! We always have the fried spring rolls to start but added chicken skewers! Delicious noodles with seafood , a spicy coconut curry and some rice and stir fried veg! All lovely and nothing left! And them a... More

Had gone in for a Saturday lunch service and we had ordered the Tom Yum hotpot meal with the meat platter. The soup base was very ordinary and wasn't spicy at all. The quality of meat used was sub standard and not the right cut/type for a hot pot - it was too chunky and dipping it into a hot... More

I have not had a bad meal in this restaurant. My sister who lives in Belgium, who comes here for a yearly visit, always insists that we go to An Nam's for a meal. We just love the flavours of Vietnamese food. And such friendly service!
