Lunch

Great for a healthy Japanese lunch at a reasonable price. The sets are the best value. Usually busy so you might need to book.

I popped along today anticipating a nice lunch, as I had experienced at the end of 2014, to find the building shut, covered in scaffolding with demolition contractor's hoardings in the windows. I guess that means its closed !

the quality of the food is very good, definitly the top 3 in the City. The lunch option is much better value than the à La Carte.

Went there with some Japanese friends. Food was brilliant. Slow cooked pork was very good. Price was reasonable. However the waitress seemed a bit tired and wanted to hit the bed as it was pretty late at night. Please don't think she was impolite.

As a lover of Japanese food, I used to visit Mugen at least once a week over several years when I was working in the City. It is a consistently good place for lunch, though it often gets very busy. There are several Japanese companies in the area, and Mugen serves as a canteen for many expats carving some native... More

We have regularly visited Mugen restaurant and the food, whilst slightly expensive, has always been excellent. The restaurant is always very busy (which is a good sign) and therefore it is always advisable to book. But here is the problem. On one occasion I visited the restaurant when it was quiet to make a booking for the following day and... More

I have already known their small takeaway shop and the quality is just as good here. Delicious food, try the funky self-cooked soups.

Arrived at just after 10. Told to leave by 11. As we didn't order fast enough with staff standing over us were told to leave as staff gathered up drinks and napkin at 10:15. Have never been so insulted and badly treated in my whole restaurant visiting life

This is a regular so I get slightly better service, may need to wait a bit for a table but the counter can be fun. Nice japanese food, ask for the katsu curry sauce thicker but one of the best tasting. Good tempura, my friends enjoy the sushi

Went with a Japanese colleague and we both loved the food (she had sushi, and I had a bento). Not cheap, but the best mid-price Japanese I have found in the City.

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
