Turned into a brand - bad move

Patisserie Valerie was one of two of the earliest and best coffee bars in Soho, the other being Maison Bertaux. Bertaux is unchanged, but Valerie is now run by the people who own Pizza Express, and is a

Disappointed as I love the one in Cabots Circus Bristol and deliberately chose this for my breakfast rather than the many coffee houses in this road. I had to search for a waitress after ten minutes, there was only one man and a family of four and the latter had not been served either. Coffee arrived, lukewarm followed by poached... More

Seated on arrival we opted as a foursome to have the special offer of cream teas for two. This arrived promptly and was excellent. Lack of toilet tissue took three requests to be rectified but in the defence of the staff it was a busy place and they were juggling many requests!! As a popular place the toilet was used... More

So, I do not like chain restos in general, but I like Valeries. It is one of my favourite food treats to go and attack my waistline now and then. The cakes and tarts are a really nice attraction and display, with the Millefeuille or the chocolate / raspberry moose a good delicious choice. I'd love to stay, but the... More

We go to London maybe once a year and on every visit we make it a point to visit Patisserie Valerie. We normally head to the one in Knightsbridge, but circumstances placed us in Central and we headed to the Charing Cross branch. It was lunch time and it took a while for us to be seated, there were three... More

This chain is one of my favourite date venues, and I love the vanilla slice. However, in this branch the service was tardy, begrudging and sloppy. The walls and table were dirty, which I suppose I might have expected given they have only 4 out of 5 stars for food hygiene. It would be a nice touch to be greeted... More

We went into this cafe for a cup of tea and cake. It was so busy we had to wait for a table for two. When the table was available it was round a corner so we couldn't see it - but it was so cramped - with another table so close to it we couldn't get to our seats... More

I have dined in several Patisserie Valerie restaurants and this was by far the most disappointing. My sister had a Greek salad which was a few lettuce leaves with feta cheese and olives with dry pitta bread - most boring & uninspiring. I had a mixed vegetable ciabatta with salad & crisps which was pretty average. The saving grace was... More

Not the best Patisserie Valerie I've visited - they seem to be suffering from stretched standards. as the chain grows in size its lose touch with what made in good in the first place. It was busy I'll give them that but so busy that the floor cannot be kept clean? Or can being busy excuse iced tea that had... More

We thought that this was going to be delicious, drinks (tea and coffee) were OK, but the chef cannot cook scrambled eggs, they were dry and inedible even with a load of seasoning, accompanying toast, one slice was only cooked one side, and had to ask for butter. Did not eat this. I would say cakes look good, but you... More
