Set in the heart of Mayfair on Park Lane, The Dorchester has been a symbol of luxury and charm for more than half a century. The Promenade is the sumptuous setting for the hotel's legendary afternoon teas, offering sandwiches, scones and pastries alongside a selection of 25 different types of tea. They had nice live music in the evening near bar. I liked their selection of tea and drinks. It was interesting to watch people from all over the world having drinks there.

Every time we go to London I cannot return home without having tea/coffee at The Dorchester. The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble for them. The Dorchester Blend Tea is delicious as are the biscuits that accompany it. If you want a touch of elegance visit her.

My husband booked afternoon tea for my birthday and we just happened to book a last minute slot which I was very chuffed about. I read positive reviews so was expecting it to be marvellous and I was not disappointed. The lobby looked the part and elegant so was looking forward to the afternoon tea. The staff were very welcoming... More

The restaurant is thoroughly beautiful and immctuately clean as inn deed was the entire hotel. The entrance an restaurant was full of beautiful fresh flowers and thee table was dressed beautifully, however our afternoon tea was disappointingly average and the service, although polite was poor, slow and protracted, we sat for extended periods of time with out tea, sandwiches or... unfortunately didn't really live up to expectations or last visit... We arrived to find they had lost our booking and were initially only offered water whilst we waited. Asked for juice which was provided. Sandwiches, scones and tea were all lovely but disappointed that there were three of us but only four cakes provided, no different to when just two of... More

A very English phenomenon. Vast selection of teas, from English breakfast tea upwards. I enjoy Lapsang Souchong and this one was sublime. Dainty finger sandwiches without crusts and vegetarians are catered for. Fresh scones and a nice selection of other very pretty cakes. Service for us didn't deserve a mention. Horribly expensive but it's not an everyday event so relax,... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
