Set in the heart of Mayfair on Park Lane, The Dorchester has been a symbol of luxury and charm for more than half a century. The Promenade is the sumptuous setting for the hotel's legendary afternoon teas, offering sandwiches, scones and pastries alongside a selection of 25 different types of tea. The truly decadent can also opt for champagne while reclining on the high-backed divans, or hide away in one of the intimate alcoves for an informal lunch or a light supper.

Afternoon tea

Been twice now and the service is excellent, as is the tea cakes and sandwiches. Fantastic place for a treat - not cheap but it's not meant to be 😉

Eat here on business, which we do twice a year. The food and service are both wonderful. The whole experience is a great one but we equally eat in places as good on a regular basis. We were part of a large function. The hotel definitely has the ability to deliver fine dining on a mass scale.....

My family and I recently enjoyed a wonderful high tea at the Dorchester. I was expecting to walk away hungry after ingesting only a few tiny tea sandwiches, but left stuffed to the brim with delicious scones and other delectables. The service could not have been better. I definitely would recommend this to anyone wanting to experience high society in... More

Booked the balcony at Dorchester for a Champagne Afternoon Tea for a friend's 40th. It was a little pricey at £70 per head plus service charge (worked out to £80 per head) but the little sandwiches were very intricate and pretty...the variations of tea were amazing, I must have drunk 20 cups to myself of 3 different variations). left the... An excellent afternoon tea experience. Great variety of food with excellent choice (caters for vegetarians very well). The desserts were unique compared to many other afternoon teas we have been to. Excellent atmosphere and service was brilliant. Quite expensive however worth the money - one of the best afternoon teas I have been to. Would highly recommend.

Just had a wonderful afternoon at the Dorchester today. We had tea at the Balcony. It was really nice. Private, quiet and very delightful. Service was impeccable, the tea service was sumptuos and the views from the balcony were quite nice. We have been to tea at the Promenade several times, but the Balcony gives a whole different perspective to... More

I was taken for a special occassion so did not have to pay the very high amount for afternoon tea. £49 per person plus service.....wow. The initial greeting at the door was good, but it was let down by the people working at the station near the long lobby that is used for the afternoon tea service. We were all... More

I didn't know what to expect going into The Dorchester. As tourists to London we wanted to do something special to end our weekend. Reserving a table was quick and easy and didn't need to be booked months in advance. I was a bit nervous about going simply due to the prestige of The Dorchester and knowing all about its... More

My partner booked The Dorchester for champagne afternoon tea due to it being a classic hotel and ‘must’ for this type of thing. We were a little early when we arrived but were escorted around the moment we entered by the handsome security guy to the loos, cloak room then to the beautiful cocktail bar for a drink. Everything was... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
