Set in the heart of Mayfair on Park Lane, The Dorchester has been a symbol of luxury and charm for more than half a century. The Promenade is the sumptuous setting for the hotel's legendary afternoon teas, offering sandwiches, scones and pastries alongside a selection of 25 different types of tea. The truly decadent can also opt for champagne while reclining on the high-backed divans, or hide away in one of the intimate alcoves for an informal lunch or a light supper.

It was good but was expecting it to be better than other 5 star hotels in London. Sandwiches were ok but cakes were poorly. Not good value for money. Intercontinental was far way better in presentation, table setting and quality of sandwiches and cakes. Was so disappointed.

This was a treat for a 50th birthday. While I was aware of the reputation of the hotel, I thought it might be stuffy and not great value for money. I was wrong! The surroundings really are first class - the biggest display and sweetest smell of flowers amid very plush furnishings. We were made to feel very welcome on... More

A friend treated me to afternoon tea here for my birthday. Firstly the dining room is exquisite and the fresh flowers that adorn the dining room are just beautiful and the smell of the flowers is beautiful. We had the champagne afternoon tea, the sandwiches, scones and cakes were just superb and the choice of teas offered is immense. The... More

I went to the Dorchester for the first time for Wimbledon High Tea. It was a superb experience. The Promenade restaurant was so lovely. Although compared to some afternoon teas the price may initially seem high. It is exceptional value for money, not only for the amazing décor and surroundings, but also for the amount of food you get along... More

If you have the chance, stop at the Dorchester for breakout Or Tea. It's classic old world service and outstanding food. I don't know how much butter or cream they add to the scrambled eggs but they are not to be missed.

My husband and I visited the Dorchester for afternoon tea recently and both felt underwhelmed and disappointed by our experience. It was a gift from my husbands parents to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. When reviewing the menu, we noticed that the afternoon tea was Wimbledon themed and the price increased from £49.95 pp to £59 pp. I asked whether... More

My wife and I came here for our anniversary and had the afternoon tea with champagne option. Service and quality were exceptional and although expensive it was a truly memorable experience and one that I would recommend.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
