I took my mum here today to celebrate her retirement and I couldn't find fault with the visit. From the moment we walked through the door the staff were delightful and nothing was too much trouble. The lady who greeted us even congratulated my mum on her retirement and had a lovely conversation with her. I didn't get the name... More

My boyfriend took me there as a surprise. The place was very chic, rich, warm, cosy, comfy... We had Traditional Afternoon Tea... Great selection of fine teas, delicious sandwiches and mouthwatering desserts. The staff is very sweet and helpful. Moreover, my boyfriend decided to propose to me there and they prepared 2 glasses of champagne and a chocolate cake saying... More

Had a lovely afternoon tea today - took my Dad for his birthday and he enjoyed it very much. Having just been to the Burj al Arab not long ago I had a high expectation and this was v good, but not the best. The setting room flowers are a wow and the chairs were very comfy. Service was friendly... More

I simply loved the whole experience!!! The Promenade is a lavish place - with a truly unique ambiance. It is definitely the best place to have an afternoon tea and enjoy this British tradition. The place makes you feel special and the service is impeccable. The only thing is that for weekends you have to book in big advance.

We had booked afternoon tea as part of our Golden Wedding celebrations. On arrival, we were met politely, but we did not feel special (we had mentioned the Golden Wedding in the reservation). We were kept waiting - and ignored - and had to remind the staff about our presence! The setting was very stylish but somewhat overblown. The tea... More

I have visited the Dorchester for Afternoon Tea a few times now and it never disappoints. The Promenade has all the glamour that you hope for in a visit to one of the London greats, and the sandwiches and cakes were beautiful - not to mention the gorgeous scones! The staff were very friendly and welcoming, these places have the... More

We had a great table next to the piano and jazz band, playing a bit of Frank Sinatra and Christmas song which made an outstanding atmosphere. French waiter with 1st class etiquette and knowledge of everything on the menu. If you want to impress a lady or splash the cash for a big occasion, then the Dorchester is the place... More

I'm trying to work my way around London just having afternoon tea and The Dorchester was next on my list. Luckily, my daughter's birthday came just at the right time. She was very excited and I was looking forward to a couple of hours people watching. Our host (a lovely eastern European) lady, took care of us. Not over-bearing, but... More

The service here is excellent, but the tea was not,as for the cakes, well they were top notch. At this establishment with a the London money flowing through its veins it should step up to the mark when it comes to staff enthusiasm, which was sadly lacking.
