Description: The Prince of Wales located in the Upper Richmond Road in Putney is a brilliantly chic and contemporary British boozer. The restored nineteenth century facade belies the gastropub's stylish and cosy interior, and the light-filled dining room is always busy with a creative young crowd. The Prince of Wales menu boasts rustic traditional English dishes such as the crispy pig, dandelion and apple salad; lamb fritters with caper relish; hare and potato pie for two; and beer battered haddock with pea pure, tartare sauce and chips. Perfect for long, lazy Sunday lunches and nights out with friends, the restaurant at The Prince of Wales is a welcome addition to the Putney pub scene.

i can't believe I haven't found this pub before but I have always walked past, being underwhelmed by its modest exterior. Inside it is friendly and bustling near the bar and with a dining room at the back. We followed the waiters recommendations for food and wine and had a sharing dish of cote de boeuf washed down with a... More

My wife and I used the pub twice recently for Sunday lunch and received excellent food and service. Would recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a Sunday Roast in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Beer is good as well.

It does not look like much from the outside but once inside you feel captivated by the atmosphere this little pub has to offer. The staff are genuine and kind and so are the people that frequent the rooms. Its such a small place that you cannot help but sit close to people, huddled up on small benches and stools.... More

The friendly staff here are fast off the mark with great tasting homely food. There are loads of decorative oddities and things to draw your attention and spark conversation which is a really nice touch. Worth a stop.

With main courses averaging 15 pounds and up, I havent eaten here frequently as Putney offers a lot of choice for diners not wanting to share the ambiance with a pub crowd. That said, despite the limited choice (and the only item on the specials menu was included in the 7 items on the main menu) the beef was excellent... More

Delicious! Two of us had the pork loin, which was very tender and tasty. The crackling was amazing! Massive yorkshire puddings and crispy roasties - yum. Someone else ordered the pheasant and his plate was scraped clean. Finished off with a gooey chocolate fondant and passion fruit posset, with a melt-in-the-mouth vanilla shortbread. We all thought the restaurant had a... More

I have made several visits to the PoW and none of them have been disappointing. The bar area is small and can get crowded but it is very charming. I have had a number of meals here both in the bar area and in the restaurant. The menu is bar area has the usual fish and chips, hamburger etc. The... More

My husband and I visited the Prince of Wales for a quick meal before a matinee performance of War Horse. As vegetarians there was ample choice of food and my husband was pleased with the choice of beers. What really stood out was the friendly service we got from the staff. Would we go back? YOU BET, if only for... More

Have visited this pub for Sunday lunch several times, however, our last visit on 2nd November was disappointing. The cut of beef had been downgraded from sirloin to rump, the large crispy Yorkshire pud is now limp and greasy, cauliflower cheese and red cabbage replaced by sloppy mashed carrot piled on top of roast potatoes which made them soggy. Having said... More

Our sincere apologies that you found the quality to have dropped off - it will not happen again. I would be delighted to get any further feedback and can be... More

I often find myself in the PoW for its choice of beers and ciders (it sells Addlestones) and nice atmosphere. It's a bit small but not much can be done about that. Not had a proper meal there but the burger and scotch eggs are excellent do must give the main restaurant a go!
