Modern in its minimalist use of dark wood, clean lines and bare-as-a-babas-wotsit walls, Sohos So looks every bit the contemporary Japanese restaurant. The airy ground floor bar, dining area and shop-of-sorts (Japanese crockery sits prettily in numerous display cabinets) leads down to a main dining room. The furniture there is still wooden but stained almost black. The cooking is consistently very good creative without being fussy, and much of it using organic ingredients. Menu in hand, make a visual beeline for the tempura selections (gorgeous), and then Grilled list. These knockout dishes most notably the Wagyu rump, and Iberico pork are cooked in the open kitchen over a rather special yogan-yaki grill resulting in an unique flavour. Friendly staff will knowledgeably suggest dishes and drinks.

Very good Authentic food- Lovely staff

This is a really small quaint authentic Japanese restaurant. All the staff are Japanese and it was full of Japanese and Chinese customers which is a good sign to me. The place is nice and clean and service was with a smile. The sushi was to die for.

Restaurant looks smaller from the outside but actually is a lot bigger inside. Perfect place to stop to eat during a shopping spree or after. We sat on the bar and we had a great view of the chefs preparing the sushi. Vegetable tempura is lovely and crispy without it being too oily. The chicken teriyaki is lovely and is... More

The staff here are excellent. We were originally sat by a large group that were fairly loud. Without saying anything the waitress came over and asked if we would prefer to move to another table which was very attentive of her and made our evening much more enjoyable. After some very tasty miso and udon noodles we mainly ate a... More

This restaurant does not stick out from the rest. The food is what you would expect, but not great. Because I ordered a hot starter and sushi as main, the main course arrived first. Service was fast and friendly, but it was quiet when I was there. The restaurant will automatically include a 12,5% "suggested" service charge to your bill,... More

The cod was really amazing. The best I've ever had. The food was wonderful and the staff were all also wonderful. I highly recommend if you have not been and feel lucky to have randomly walked in off the street to give it a try.

My last visit to this restaurant was more than 3 years ago. It's exactly as I remembered it - excellent service, super-tasty and high quality food, and amazing tea and desserts. Make sure you give the green tea and/or black sesame ice cream a try!

Amazing hidden gem. The freshest most amazingly prepared sushi I've ever tasted. The chef is clearly passionate about his sushi. Huge saki menu which we're always too nervous to tackle. Highly recommend.

Working in the area, I decided to try the lunch box here which was priced at £20. I feel it was a little expensive for what it was but it's true that it is quite large. The only thing is that they tend to give you more of the stuff you don't like and less of the stuff you do... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
