This Smith Street pub, running directly south off Kings Road, once a hang-out of young trend followers, is now a regular haunt of the locals. They love the warm cosy atmosphere, not to mention the delightful menu that is refreshingly changed every week. Equally busy at lunch and dinner, The Phoenix takes bookings for both meals, or even if you just fancy a snack and a drink, you are welcome to come in. To the back of the pub is the dining room, where you can book a table for two or twenty and confidently expect to receive the same attentive service throughout the pub, no matter how large your group. Stan, the chef of The Phoenix, has been with Geronimo for many years and will be happy to serve up a selection of traditional British dishes for you.

Quick Drink

Went to the Phoenix for a quick drink with some friends. I've been here on quite a few occasions and it's a lovely neighbourhood pub which is warm and inviting with some really nice pub grub. They have a spicy bloody mary mix on tap which served with a shot of pepper vodka is perfect on a cold... read more

On our way to the Chelsea Flower Show (we had walked from Trafalgar Square) I was delighted to find this pub. Walked in, very nice place, nice bloke asked us if we were eating (we were) and showed us a table. Lovely girl came and took drinks orders and gave us the menus. We only wanted sandwiches and normally don't... More

Strolling around Chelsea on a Sunday afternoon looking for a place to have some wine and chill out, we remembered someone recommending Phoenix. An excellent choice I must say it was. Indeed we had wine. Then followed by superb early dinner and dessert. Nice and cosy atmosphere. Quality food. We had a splendid afternoon!

The lovely tucked away location away from the buzz of Kings Road makes this a great pit stop for a cup of afternoon tea/coffee, or a casual lunch. But it's also one of my favourite places for a bite to eat in the evenings. You can enjoy the pub atmosphere by eating at one of the casually laid out tables... More

This is one of my favourite Chelsea eateries, but the last two times I've been, the kitchen appears to be feeling the strain. The food is still great, but why do we have to wait for such a long time to get our orders? The wait staff are hectic and well-trained, but must have a mass of excuses as to... More

Saturday night was steak night there. It was a reasonable £23 for a bone in rib eye with sorrel butter and rosemary inc homemade fries and a lovely roasted beef tomato. It was nicely matured beef that was cooked perfectly over clearly a super high heat with a nice crust forming from the seasonings but staying nice and juicy inside... More

This place has changed in the 15 years since I visited it last. It has become more of a gastropub than pub. Having said that we enjoyed our meal and found the service friendly and the food tasty.

As this is my local, I should probably not be advertising how great it is for fear of never again being able to get a reservation. But I have to give credit. This is a truly cosy, warm and comfortable pub with an extremely welcoming staff - including the 'always cheerful' manager, Mark. One can eat in the relaxed bar... More

The food was painfully average. The kidneys, virtually inedible. Guinea fowl over seasoned. Perhaps if fish and chips had not run out, would not have been so disappointed. Nice atmosphere though.

Relatively new pub. The pub food was fine and tasty. The service was fine. Would consider going back.

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.
