Rick's Restaurant is Tooting's first and only Modern British and Modern European restaurant. Owned by Rick Gibbs, former Head Chef at the Chelsea Arts Club, this cosy and intimate dining establishment, previously known as Rick's Cafe, prides itself with the Tooting Community Good Neighbour Award and the Taste of Tooting Best Restaurant Award. With a daily changeable menu and open plan kitchen it is a real treat for any fan of Modern Spanish, English, French, Italian, Mediterranean and other Modern European cuisines, as well as for those seeking a classic British brunch, lunch or dinner. Whether it's been for business or pleasure, adults or children, vegetarian or meat lovers, Rick's unpretentious yet utterly delicious cooking has brought a fresh and unique eating out experience to the area, receiving the highest praise from critics and customers alike. As Rick uses only the freshest produce the only thing in his freezer is ice cream. Naturally, the lunch and dinner menus change daily, reflecting what is in season and what has just come off the boat or is locally available. However, old favourites like Rump or Rib-Eye Steak with hand-cut Chips & Chilli Jam and Sticky Toffee Pudding loyally remain. Favourite with diners are the artisan produced Spanish hams, French cheeses, Irish oysters, Shetland mussels, Crème brûlée and other homemade desserts. The Wine List boasts a great selection of Spanish wines with splashes of French, Italian, South African and South American at prices that won't break the bank.Eating at Rick’s Restaurant is like being a guest in Rick’s own home. He loves to be hands-on in the restaurant and will always take the time to talk to his guests, inviting them into the kitchen or sitting with them at their table to have a glass of wine or two. Essentially, Rick’s Restaurant provides comfort food with substance and intelligence without frills.

I love that the menu changes all the time. I can be quite fussy with food and there was on a couple of things on the menu that I could have. I look forward to returning though. I know people who have lived/worked in Tooting for years and they go back time and time again! The people that run the... read more

We hadn't been for a while as we had, had bad service and poor food, but our recent trip shows you shouldn't write a place off. Great service, great ambience and most importantly great food. Broad bean dip with plantain Chips as an aperitif and handmade chocolates with the bill, were unexpected and very nice touches. We will be back... More

Went here for dinner on a Saturday night and was really impressed. The food was outstanding, service felt really personal and friendly and all was very reasonably priced. A must for those that live in or ever go to the Tooting area!

We tried Rick's this week because they accept the Tastecard. We are so glad we went; all of the dishes we tried were delicious (the mushroom risotto especially!), the wine was great and the staff were really friendly. We can't fault Rick's and are already looking forward to coming back.

I have lived in Tooting for over 25 years. We were so excited when this restaurant opened and have used it regularly ever since. Annie and her team know what they are doing. Sourcing ingredients brilliantly. Menu changing with the seasons. Wine pairing evenings. It's great for breakfast, lunch and that special candle lit supper. Cannot recommend it more highly.... More

There is no doubt about it.... Tooting is definitely on the up. Everywhere you look, tidy refurbished properties and some nice cars. Plenty of food choices, so definitely an area to visit. We have visited this restaurant before and it too has changed for the better. The food on offer was definitely European with Spanish overtones. It was good value... More

Friendly, welcoming restaurant. One of our party was gluten free and they were great advising what was/wasn't gluten free. Food was also great value for the quality. Lovely bottle of wine! Special mention goes to the Savoy cabbage and truffle oil, which I will be thinking about for a long time to come!
