Nice Sunday lunch!

This is the first time I've visited this pub and I really liked it. The Sunday roast was very tasty. And the fish and chips looked very good. The service was excellent and the atmosphere very nice. I found it very expensive. But I would still go back there of I'm in the area.

One of the best finds I have come across in East London. Great service, the waitress was exceptional and attentive, and had an amazing meal!

I'm a frequent visitor and always find the staff great and accommodating. Never any issues and much better than some others nearby.

Excellent quality food, helpful waiter, decent drinks selection and a mini grand piano. What more do you need for a long Sunday lunch out?

This was a first visit for all of us; a group of six planning to enjoy a reunion over a decent supper. In the event the food exceeded our expectations on a quiet Monday evening, and the service was perfect from our very friendly waitress. We explored the good-value set menu to a certain extent and all of us pronounced... More

I had visited before and was very impressed, so I brought my Mother for a special lunch. We were not disappointed - the food is delicious, but what made it truly memorable was the fantastic service, especially from Vanessa. She was warm, knowledgeable and genuine - a real pro. We had a wonderful time and will definitely return. Thank you!

It's a lovely old building with plenty of character. The staff are very friendly but the food (and on occasions) the service do not live up to the promise. The menu has all the things on it you want to eat, making a choice is not easy. Unfortunately although the starters and puddings were good the main courses left a... More

I came to the English restaurant on a busy Friday evening, without a booking, and was given a table in the warm and cosy area by the bar. The whisky selection was excellent, and there was a live jazz band playing which really contributed to the warm, friendly, buzzy feeling of the place. The ambiance was amazing, the decor is... More

I recently visited this restaurant with a group of friends for a spontaneous lunch and we couldn't have been more charmed by this beautiful restaurant. The beers and wine on offer were well above the standard offerings, the owners were incredibly welcoming and the food delicious and comforting! The English Restaurant is such a little gem amongst the many chain... More

Neighborhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
