We stopped here on the last day of our trip to London from Australia. So nice to be in a traditional English restaurant that served English food. We had the haggis special and the mushroom Wellington followed by sticky toffee and bread and butter pudding. Felt like I was having a home cooked English meal! Loved it

Eight of us ate in the upstairs private room. Lovely room: windows on two sides; a long settee for those who needed to sit down with their pre-lunch pints, and best of all an open fire. All we needed were a few clay pipes and pewter tankards and we could have been transported back to the time of Dickens. And... More

I visited this restaurant as a member of a party of 14. The meal was booked and the food chosen more than a week in advance as it was a “large party” and we were told that we would not be able to choose the food selection on the night. A private room had been booked upstairs and we were... More

We had a large work party of quite fussy people! Everyone had a really nice time on the night and your staff coped so well with everyone’s requirements on the day/changing numbers etc.

Soooo... Ordered a couple of pints with my girlfriend after finishing work. While paying we managed to knock over a full pint. In any other pub/restaurant/cafe the manager would offer a replacement drink. But they didn't offer anything. I was very surprised and after I told the management he simply shrugged his shoulders... slopey shoulders

it is a long time since I had been to this part of London. it was very different to when I was last there- steel and glass office blocks and loads of restaurants. this was a more traditional place oak panelled. the restaurant was quite quiet which was odd giving the area and the fact that the Vietnamese restaurant was... Visited this week with friends. Open table gave them 4 stars. What a joke! Specials were gone at 6 pm making me think they had very few. Got the special soup, which was a thin potato soup with a coddled egg. It was tasteless, and worse there were brutally hard bits of something that could break a filling - origin... More

I had the chance to visit this fabulous establishment recently with a group of friends. It was a last minute decision to come here, but fortunately we were accommodated. The decor is redolent of an English pub, but with some tables being in discreet booths, which is great. A pleasant atmosphere and brilliant, friendly staff all add the the experience.... More

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighborhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
