Coffee and cake eventually!

Just wanted to have a coffee and cake before visiting the Ravilious exhibition. So we waited to be seated, then we waited to be served .Eventually the cake arrived followed 10 mins later by the coffee. Then we waited and waited for the bill! We almost gave up and walked out at this point! It is a... read more

Limited menu, but great food, great ambiance, fantastic service. With access to the lawns, and outside tables and chairs.

Such a beautiful, relaxed place for lunch / afternoon tea. We visited one Sunday afternoon and were greeted by a quintessentially English scene: chairs and tables were laid on the lawn, well-behaved children were running around barefoot and everyone had a smile on their face. It was a bit like stepping back in time to a nicer place that existed... More

My wife, daughter and I agreed that this was an excellent lunch - just what was needed after a visit to an interesting exhibition in the Gallery. Front-of-house-manager dealt efficiently and pleasantly with the waiting queue. We didn't have to wait long to be seated. Waiting staff right on the ball: took the order quickly and the food wasn't long... More

Met up with a friend visiting from Australia, in order to see the Eric Ravilious exhibition and decided on morning refreshments first. As first time users we could not easily see if this was self service (there being a counter along one wall) or waited service. Discovered that we must stand by the till, wait to be allocated a table... More

Stopped for late morning weekday coffee with friends before picture exhibition. Drinks good, but service very slow despite low numbers of customers. Some staff oblivious to customers, others rather grumpy.

We came for breakfast on a Sunday morning before visiting the gallery (the cafe opens at 10am on Sundays, but the gallery opens at 11). Very good coffee, excellent eggs florentine and danish pastry between us, good service and a very nice view over the gallery grounds. We sat indoors, but there are also plenty of tables outside. A very... More

Four of us visited the cafe at 4 pm on Easter Monday. We were told that there were no cakes available, but we had scones. We ordered tea for two, and two coffees. The scones eventually turned up but without drinks. We then waited 30 minutes to get these. The supervisor told us that that they had run out of... More

Very busy cafe attached to picture gallery - delicious coffee but quite a few items on morning menu were unavailable and the service seemed a little disorganised but was friendly enough

Excellent food, original recipes, beautifully presented. I had the Serrano ham and smoked mozzarella arancini with aioli and for dessert the Warm apple & blackberries crumble with vanilla ice cream. Absolutely 5-star. only faults of the restaurant are: 1) that there is no double-entry door so the cold air kept coming inside 2) the terrible state of the staffs' shoes... More
