Description: If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent...
If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent Garden's multi award-winning Clos Maggiore. Echoing the charming country inns of Provence and Tuscany, the warmly muted decor, low lighting and welcoming log fire were clearly designed with love in mind. The skylight is surrounded with twining, flower-starred branches to resemble an Italianate courtyard, a delightful faux-rural treat in the city centre. Seasonally inspired classic French cuisine coupled with impeccable service is the order of the day at Clos Maggiore restaurant, with a focus on chic presentation and bold flavours. The range of menus include a six-course "tasting menu" featuring such dishes as "Seared Wild Scallops, Ratte Potato & Winter Truffle" and "Pan Roasted Fillet of Cornish Cod, Olive Oil & Basil Pomme Puree". In addition Clos Maggiore serves a reasonably priced, regularly changing set lunch and pre-theatre menus. To find the perfect complement Clos Maggiore's extensive cellar includes over 2500 labels and was extended earlier this year to include an additional 400 wines at a low - mid price range. They have recently been awarded the "The Grand Wine Award 2014" by the Wine Spectator - one of only 70 restaurants worldwide to receive this accolade. Clos Maggiore has been voted in the "Top Ten" categories for "Best French Restaurants", "Best Ambiance" and "Special Occasion Restaurants" by opentable. Toptable lists Clos Maggiore as one of the most highly rated dining venues in London and Square Meal lists Clos Maggiore as one of the best restaurants with Private Rooms.

High quality, high end dining

Despite having a reputation as a romantic venue, we had a wonderful experience as a family group table of 6 (teenage, not small children). The booth is just off the conservatory. From the warm welcome, friendly attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble. We mixed a la Carte starters with the set... read more

I don't think you could pick a prettier or more romantic setting to have dinner. From the moment you walk in, you know you have gone somewhere really classy. The staff went out of their way to serve, even to the point of giving our party of 7, 4 separate and accurate bills. The food was of an excellent standard,... More

Looks like we've been lucky as we did not have a booking for this sunday lunch and were still offered a table in the packed restaurant. Lot of tourists but this was such a pleasure. The atmosphere is quiet and calm, and the food is delicious for a £30 menu! Special bravo for my Eton Mess which was fantastic :)... More

On our first day in London (having flown up from Australia) after a big day of sight seeing we had the predinner menu (£25 for 2 courses) at Clos Maggiore before going to the theatre. It didn't occur to me when we showed up how incredibly underdressed I was! T-Shirt... Oh god! But this did not seem to affect the... More

I booked this restaurant almost six months in advance so I could dine in the conservatory. It was our 25th anniversary which they recognized .The meal was excellent . My wife could not stop talking about how much she enjoyed the dinner. Really romantic room for celebrating a special event. Easy to get to, Great location.

We were treated to a fab 60th birthday dinner and because the hosts changed their mind of venue last minute we could not be seated downstairs (the more romantic section). Well, it didn't matter because for me the upstairs has a more clubby and cozy atmosphere. With the heat pouring in from the hot London streets, in the middle of... More

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful cosy romantic dinner last night. They were. Sey accommodating as I had put in a request prior to arriving about getting a side plate of steamed vegetables with our dinner. The food was delicious. I had the Halibut and my BF the cod. The sommelier matched our food with the type of wine... More

Clos Maggiore must surely have one of the best chefs in London. The materials, preparation and presentation of the food is just first rate. It has also a lovely interior decor - comfortable and elegant. The service - well, it's not quite at the same level as the food. When I booked (far in advance), I made a point of... More
