Description: If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent Garden's multi award-winning Clos Maggiore. Echoing the charming country inns of Provence and Tuscany, the warmly muted decor, low lighting and welcoming log fire were clearly designed with love in mind. The skylight is surrounded with twining, flower-starred branches to resemble an Italianate courtyard, a delightful faux-rural treat in the city centre. Seasonally inspired classic French cuisine coupled with impeccable service is the order of the day at Clos Maggiore restaurant, with a focus on chic presentation and bold flavours. The range of menus include a six-course “tasting menu” featuring such dishes as “Seared Wild Scallops, Ratte Potato & Winter Truffle” and “Pan Roasted Fillet of Cornish Cod, Olive Oil & Basil Pomme Purée”. In addition Clos Maggiore serves a reasonably priced, regularly changing set lunch and pre-theatre menus. To find the perfect complement Clos Maggiore’s extensive cellar includes over 2,000 labels and was extended earlier this year to include an additional 400 wines at a low – mid price range. They have been awarded the “Best of Award of Excellence” consistently since 2003 by Wine Spectator. The Michelin Guide and AA Restaurant Guide have fêted their wine selection as worthy of note. Clos Maggiore has been voted in the “Top Ten” categories for “Best French Restaurants‟, “Best Ambiance‟ and “Special Occasion Restaurants‟ by opentable. Toptable lists Clos Maggiore as one of the most highly rated dining venues in London and Square Meal lists Clos Maggiore as one of the best restaurants with Private Rooms.

I took my partner here for a dinner and the whole experience was very special. When we first came into the restaurant, we were greeted by a very friendly restaurant hostess. After checking our reservation, she lead us through the next door into the main dining area. The moment we step in, my gf was amaze at how beautifully decorated... More

Just a short walk from the Royal Opera, this restaurant offers a very nice set menu with sufficient variety to satisfy most tastes. And in the case when we needed a slight deviation from the preparation, it was accomplished without argument. Food was very nicely prepared, service prompt and priced very reasonably. We have eaten here several times and have... More

The blossoms looked perfect and we had a great table in the conservatory part.. The sommelier is the best I have ever seen, great personality. We had the tasting menu with a wine pairing from around the world. The dessert wine smelled as if he put a white truffle next to us. AMAZING food and all beautifully presented - foie... More

I took my partner here for his birthday recently and the whole experience was very special. We were really lucky to have been placed at the centre table, which made the experience even more romantic. We were waited on hand and foot and the food was fabulous. A perfect evening.

As a family we visited on a Sunday lunchtime and had the set lunch menu. 3 courses for £30 (inc service charge), £5 more if you have wine (half bottle of preselected) Restaurant is immaculately clean with pleasant, unfussy but attentive staff. We dined in the upstairs area which is a cosy but well appointed wood pannelled room. We had... More

We were very lucky to get a seat in the conservatory area, it really is a beautiful setting for dinner. If you are with friends I would probably recommend one of the booths or other tables as this area really is for romance! The staff were fantastic and all of our food was delicious. The only thing that stops me... More

We visited clos maggoire on our second night in London and it was magnificent. The conservatory seating area is the place to be seated! All the tables are rather close together but overall it is an intimate setup! The service was outstanding and very attentive. Moreover the food was extremely well presented and although not an extensive menu, you can... More

My wife and I dined here again recently with friends before going to the theatre and as on our previous visits were very impressed. The restaurant is ideally located on King Street, just off the piazza at Covent Garden, so is ideally placed for the Royal Opera House and the countless theatres nearby. Our booking was for 5pm and we... More

Six of us ate lunch here having the Prix Fixe menu - a bargain, 3 courses plus half a bottle of wine each for £29.95 Service was brilliant and friendly, we could not have asked for more. The food was beautiful worthy of a Michelin star and the wine complemented the food perfectly. Highly recommended, a real treat. Star dishes... More

We needed a restaurant which could provide us with a meal between two theatre performances - matinee and evening - and Clos Maggiore achieved this in abundance. The menu for pre-theatre meals is short but interesting. The atmosphere is excellent, the surroundings superb and we will certainly return to have a full evening dinner here in the future. The service... More
