Description: If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent...
If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent Garden's multi award-winning Clos Maggiore. Echoing the charming country inns of Provence and Tuscany, the warmly muted decor, low lighting and welcoming log fire were clearly designed with love in mind. The skylight is surrounded with twining, flower-starred branches to resemble an Italianate courtyard, a delightful faux-rural treat in the city centre. Seasonally inspired classic French cuisine coupled with impeccable service is the order of the day at Clos Maggiore restaurant, with a focus on chic presentation and bold flavours. The range of menus include a six-course "tasting menu" featuring such dishes as "Seared Wild Scallops, Ratte Potato & Winter Truffle" and "Pan Roasted Fillet of Cornish Cod, Olive Oil & Basil Pomme Puree". In addition Clos Maggiore serves a reasonably priced, regularly changing set lunch and pre-theatre menus. To find the perfect complement Clos Maggiore's extensive cellar includes over 2500 labels and was extended earlier this year to include an additional 400 wines at a low - mid price range. They have recently been awarded the "The Grand Wine Award 2014" by the Wine Spectator - one of only 70 restaurants worldwide to receive this accolade. Clos Maggiore has been voted in the "Top Ten" categories for "Best French Restaurants", "Best Ambiance" and "Special Occasion Restaurants" by opentable. Toptable lists Clos Maggiore as one of the most highly rated dining venues in London and Square Meal lists Clos Maggiore as one of the best restaurants with Private Rooms.

Tremendous, and not-at-all horrendously priced!

Wonderful setting and interior, fabulous food at good portion sizes, good choice of wines (unsurprisingly overpriced cf their quality and the food). Serve good, if a litttle slow and infernally difficult to settle up and leave!

Dinner for Young Couple. Food really was wonderful and the service, impeccable and discreet. We felt like we where the only ones in the restaurant (even though it was very busy). The decor reflected the atmosphere superbly. If you can try and be seated in the courtyard but any table will still be wonderful. The wine list is endless and... More

Visited with friends and had the early evening prix fixe which was excellent, starters were very good but the venison main was outstanding perfectly cooked and excellent quality. The inclusive wine package is great value especially given the location. we have been to the restaurant a number of times but this was one of the best meals.Service also very good.... More

We went here to celebrate valentine. The food we ordered were really good, the atmosphere was nice and romantic. However I was not too happy with the service. After we sat down and got the menu, we were waiting for at least 15 minutes, then finally I must call the waiter to take our order. Secondly, I asked for the... More

This place is amazing! We came here and got seated right in the middle of the whole room, not the type for centre of attention but did we feel special! The branches with the flowers blossoming and the fireplace really pulled everything together and created a unique dining experience that could only be described as fantastical! The food only enhanced... More

We had the tasting menu with wine and everything was delicious. We were lucky enough to sit in the conservatory and the atmosphere is really very special. The wine list is a massive tome of a book so we were glad that the courses had wines matched to it for us. If I had to complain about anything it would... More

Was lucky enough to be taken here for lunch. The staff are fabulous and the decor is out of this world. Had the seasonal taster menu , with different wines with each course , was stunning.... As vegetarians we normally eschew French Restaurants but we chose the show and our friend chose the restaurant and we were delighted by his selection. Not just a vegetarian option but a whole taster menu which even our carnivorous friend decided to try. We were all amazed and delighted, us by the fact that a "French" restaurant understood the idea... More

We had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant back in December and returned this month with friends. Two of our party had the tasting menu which they agreed unanimously was wonderful. I had a beautiful crab starter, followed by perfectly cooked cod with vermicelli, muscles and saffron. We were seated in the conservatory which is delightful. The service is excellent;... More

We were a table of four at 19.30. No hurry with the orders, service smooth and efficient. We did comment that it was a little draughty around the ladies feet but nothing was done. The conservatory is romantic but a little "kitsch " for our taste. The food was excellent, the crab delicious if a little small, the lobster tortellini... More
