Description: If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent Garden's multi award-winning Clos Maggiore. Echoing the charming country inns of Provence and Tuscany, the warmly muted decor, low lighting and welcoming log fire were clearly designed with love in mind. The skylight is surrounded with twining, flower-starred branches to resemble an Italianate courtyard, a delightful faux-rural treat in the city centre. Seasonally inspired classic French cuisine coupled with impeccable service is the order of the day at Clos Maggiore restaurant, with a focus on chic presentation and bold flavours. The range of menus include a six-course “tasting menu” featuring such dishes as “Seared Wild Scallops, Ratte Potato & Winter Truffle” and “Pan Roasted Fillet of Cornish Cod, Olive Oil & Basil Pomme Purée”. In addition Clos Maggiore serves a reasonably priced, regularly changing set lunch and pre-theatre menus. To find the perfect complement Clos Maggiore’s extensive cellar includes over 2,000 labels and was extended earlier this year to include an additional 400 wines at a low – mid price range. They have been awarded the “Best of Award of Excellence” consistently since 2003 by Wine Spectator. The Michelin Guide and AA Restaurant Guide have fêted their wine selection as worthy of note. Clos Maggiore has been voted in the “Top Ten” categories for “Best French Restaurants‟, “Best Ambiance‟ and “Special Occasion Restaurants‟ by opentable. Toptable lists Clos Maggiore as one of the most highly rated dining venues in London and Square Meal lists Clos Maggiore as one of the best restaurants with Private Rooms.

I took my husband here as a surprise birthday meal. We have been several times and it never fails to wow us. If you can get seated in the conservatory it is beautiful, but equally upstairs is lovely in the colder months with the fire roaring in background. The food here is always perfect, and service to match. They have... More

This was our fifth visit to the restaurant, it has become a regular on our occasional trips to London. It is a really nice place with a good menu. The tasting menu would be great if they didn't insist on putting Foie Gras on the menu (why do all tasting menu insist in putting this on a tasting menu?). The... More

I recently took my wife to this restaurant for her 30th Bday and we arrived at 930pm for our table it wasn't quite ready and so the drinks were on them. Nice touch. The conservatory where we dined was amazing with the flowers all across the ceiling and at one point they opened up the roof so u were dining... More

This restaurant is the perfect place for a romantic dinner : high quality food and very cosy atmosphere. The service is also very good. You can choose between downstairs with all the flowers or upstairs with the fireplace : both a delight

Have visited twice now in the past month and have to say it is not what it used to be at all, I'm afraid. The setting is still beautiful in the conservatory, although they seem to find every excuse under the sun to NOT seat you there (very tiresome when you have booked months in advance) but it's the food... I took my boyfriend to this restaurant for his birthday and we both absolutely loved it. We arrived a little late after some trouble on the Tube and I was expecting to be turned back the moment I walked through the door. Thankfully the lady on the front desk immediately asked us if we had any jackets to leave in... More

My boyfriend and I chose Clos Maggiore for its pre-theatre menu and romantic atmosphere, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is small, but we were lucky to be sat in the beautiful conservatory area. The pre-theatre menu featured 2 courses for about £28 each, which I felt was quite reasonable considering we were in central London on a... More

The first time at this restaurant and we were taken care of from the beginning. The service was very good and the food was delicious. We had the seasonal tasting menu where you get 5 courses and all of them combined with the wine that was chosen was topnotch. We'll definitely go here again when we're back in London.

My best meal in London so far. It is a expensive restaurant but completely worth, since the outstanding food quality and service to the amazing decor.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions, lunchtime & evening but are still amazed at the calming effect it has on you especially in the conservatory area. No it isn't cheap but the service is faultless and unhurried; the food always a delight. I have an allergy to chocolate and the staff adjust desserts to suit. On this... More
