Description: If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent...
If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent Garden's multi award-winning Clos Maggiore. Echoing the charming country inns of Provence and Tuscany, the warmly muted decor, low lighting and welcoming log fire were clearly designed with love in mind. The skylight is surrounded with twining, flower-starred branches to resemble an Italianate courtyard, a delightful faux-rural treat in the city centre. Seasonally inspired classic French cuisine coupled with impeccable service is the order of the day at Clos Maggiore restaurant, with a focus on chic presentation and bold flavours. The range of menus include a six-course "tasting menu" featuring such dishes as "Seared Wild Scallops, Ratte Potato & Winter Truffle" and "Pan Roasted Fillet of Cornish Cod, Olive Oil & Basil Pomme Puree". In addition Clos Maggiore serves a reasonably priced, regularly changing set lunch and pre-theatre menus. To find the perfect complement Clos Maggiore's extensive cellar includes over 2500 labels and was extended earlier this year to include an additional 400 wines at a low - mid price range. They have recently been awarded the "The Grand Wine Award 2014" by the Wine Spectator - one of only 70 restaurants worldwide to receive this accolade. Clos Maggiore has been voted in the "Top Ten" categories for "Best French Restaurants", "Best Ambiance" and "Special Occasion Restaurants" by opentable. Toptable lists Clos Maggiore as one of the most highly rated dining venues in London and Square Meal lists Clos Maggiore as one of the best restaurants with Private Rooms.

Prix fixe is a winner

Delicious food and wine. Warm intimate atmosphere. Still can't forget the taste of the pumpkin soup with truffle bread and juicy duck breast. Should definite try if you love French food.

It was refreshing to see this restaurant has maintained high standards over the years. Food and service is always first class but remains warm with intimate surroundings. Ideal for for couples and family's looking for that something that's just a little bit extra special.

We recently went to Clos Maggiore as part of a group of about 20 people for pre-theater dinner. We all had a wonderful time. The staff was extremely attentive and the service during dinner was flawless. the food was delicious and they paired the dishes with very good wines. they had us out of there in time for our theater... Birthday lunch treat for my husband, and it didn't disappoint. The wine list is very extensive (wonderful Camel Valley sparkling wine) and there is a good choice between set menus and a la carte. My crab starter and main of cod with mussels and vermicelli where both interesting, well presented and very well cooked. Desserts were also a delight to... More

I would go back again the food was really and they helped you pair some fine wines with your food. The best part of the whole experience is that you feel like you are outside on a spring night. Would tell all my friends to give it a try.

I chose to have dinner in this restaurant after I would have proposed to my girlfriend. Initial plan was dinner on Saturday, but 2 months in advance they were already fully booked, so it was Sunday after all. Hence, you really need to book a long time in advance. After the big day had come and she said yes, we... More

Me and my girlfriend dined one evening before a trip to the theatre. We arrived to a reasonably full restaurant considering it was 5pm on a Monday night. My partner is a vegetarian and can so.etimes be limited choice at higher end restaurants, no problems here though. She enjoyed a main course of mushroom & truffle gnocchi which she said... More

The hype regarding the conservatory's interior is well-founded. It is a beautiful, small room that creates a very romantic and intimate setting. Only the most cynical of women won't be impressed. The service is a bit posh, but not so much as to be off putting. The wine list is absolutely enormous, and unless you are an ex sommelier yourself,... More

We visited Clos Maggiore for the second time this weekend with two of our adult children who had been yearning to come here. The setting in the downstairs restaurant was magical, the staff were very attentive and the food was excellent. The Sommelier was really helpful and the wine "Bible" is incredible but it is disappointing to find it difficult... More
